Why Should I Get The Flu Jab Every Year
The best way to help protect yourself and others from flu is to have the flu jab every year. Over time, protection from the flu jab gradually decreases and flu strains can change, which means a previous flu jab may not protect you from this year’s strains.
How effective is the flu vaccine?
Whilst no vaccine is 100% effective, having a flu jab will help protect you from catching flu and passing it on to others. After your jab, it usually takes around two weeks to be protected.
What happens at the appointment?
One of our vaccinators will inject the vaccine into your upper arm. As with all medicines, there may be some side effects but these are usually mild and should disappear within a day or two. The most common side effects include:
- Redness, soreness or bruising at the injection site
- A high temperature, sweating, shivering or feeling unwell
- Headaches, fatigue or dizziness
- Aching muscles or joints

In the year 2008, Nike launched a new cushioning and outsole technology called the Lunarlon, which debuted and featured in two modelsnamely the Nike Lunaracer and Nike Hyperdunk. Developed by veteran shoe designers Kevin Hoffer and Eric Avar, the Lunarlon shoe technology gave both basketball players and distance runners the bouncy responsiveness and soft cushioning they required from their footwear.
Four years after, the brand decided to combine AF1’s already iconic silhouette with the technologically advanced Lunarlon cushioning. This fusion led to the creation of the hybrid Nike Lunar Force 1. Making an appearance on December 12, 2012, its debut was greeted with great enthusiasm.
Nike, however, aiming to maintain its status in the market, did not stop their pursuit of perfection. Various versions were designed and developed to meet consumers continually changing needs and demands. This includes the Nike Lunar Force 1 Duckboot.

The Nike Lunar Force 1 Duckboot Returns For Cold Fronts
Nike are bringing back the rugged Lunar Force 1 Duckboot in preparation for the northern hemispheres approaching winter. A weatherproof version of the classic Air Force 1, this upgraded model takes quite a few cues from the outdoor footwear world, but maintains an overall sneaker silhouette thats instantly recognised.
Given the Duckboot designation in its name, this LF1 naturally draws on the iconic cue of these waterproof boots, ie its rubberised toe. This iteration sees a rubber shroud seal off the toe box from any errant puddles, and also covers the surface with the same star nubs found on the outsole. The rest of the upper is similarly sealed off from the elements, which is achieved via Nikes WaterShield lining underneath the leather surface. For added protection, the high-top cut keeps more warmth in and the wet out, which is further assisted by an inner layer and extended tongue that forms a physical barrier from the outside. Underfoot, the usual Air midsole is swapped for a softer Lunar version, which is a welcome addition for long days spent strapped up in these sneaker boots. Theres also spiky tread markers, helping maintain grip on slippery ice-covered streets.
Its still hot out, so hold on a while longer for the Lunar Force 1 Duckboot to hit Nike retailers.

The Nike Lunar Force 1 Duckboot was a hit when it first debuted in the mid-2010s. Modifying the classic Air Force 1, the Lunar variant builds the shoe into a Winter boot, featuring water-resistant outer layers, a rubberized toe box, Lunar cushioning in the midsole, and a new outsole pattern for better traction. This week, we got an early look at a new colorway of the fan-favorite model, indicating a fresh wave of styles are set to arrive in time for the Fall/Winter season. The bulk of the upper comes in a soft tan shade, with the star-studded toe box added in a darker, yellowed brown shade. The Lunar foam midsole comes in a clean sail shade, while black accents along the outsole, laces, and front pull tab complete the palette. Some of our favorite features remain a part of the silhouette, including Nikes Watershield technology for the upper and metal D-rings added to the lacing system.

Set to return in autumnal hues of tan and black, this new iteration of the Lunar Force 1 Duckboot boasts all the expected winterized wears, including rubberized toes, heft traction underfoot, a watershield resistance system, and utilitarian additions throughout. Despite the pairs complexity, the color blocking remains relatively reserved as it indulges in tans for the most part, with olive toes and black pulls, laces, and outsoles rounding out the design.
