These Are The Flip Or Flop Nashville Stars’ Secrets To Working Successfully With An Ex

FAST Modern House Flip! | Flip or Flop | HGTV

When realtor Page Turner and football player-turned-contractor DeRon Jenkins ended their relationship, Turner told Us Weekly, the split was amicable. “We dated for a long time, but we still remained friends,” she explained. “We didn’t have this huge blow up where we just stopped speaking and all that drama.” However, they did go their separate ways for a while, at least. Turner noted that she and Jenkins had to take time apart from one another for a few years before they were okay working together again.

As Jenkins added, it all boils down to the fact that they legitimately hold each other in high regard. “The secret is respect and trust. We respect each other,” said Jenkins. “We feel like we both are at the top of our craft. We work well together as far as trusting.” The Flip or Flop Nashville star explained, “I know what she’s gonna do, she knows what I’m gonna do. Our expectations of each other are very realistic. We make it work.”

Grand Views Sell The House

The house is a mess inside and out when El Moussa and Hall first tour it. But the second they see the deck, theyre sold. Its giant and unfinished, but at least you can see the ocean from it.

This is what is really going to sell the house, says El Moussa.

Hall agrees, and they make plans to finish the deck, add trifold glass doors leading out to it, and add a powder room inside on the deck level.

It will be an added cost of $17,000, but El Moussa thinks thats a good investment.

If we spend the $17,000 here, well probably get $60,000 back, he says.

Flip Or Flop Season 7

While some HGTV couples were found on social media or blogs, the El Moussas took matters into their own hands. “We just started flipping houses and we took a long shot and sent a production company an e-mail,” Tarek told CountryLiving.com in 2016. “They liked us and said to send a home video. We did, and they liked it. A year-and-a-half later, HGTV picked us up for a pilot.”

But their success was almost short-lived. “Midway through season one, the show was almost cancelled because someone high up at HGTV thought it would fail,” he continued. “It didn’t.”

That’s an understatement. By 2016, more than 2.5 million people tuned in to watch Flip or Flop, and it’s since inspired several spin-offs.

How The Flip Or Flop Nashville Stars Responded To Nashville’s Real Estate Market Cooling Down

According to a 2020 study, Nashville was ranked one of America’s hottest real estate markets. However, by then, the market had cooled considerably compared to a few years earlier, as inventory lessened while cautious buyers waited for things to pick back up. Speaking with the Los Angeles Times in January 2019, Flip or Flop Nashville stars Page Turner and DeRon Jenkins revealed how they were handling the market trend at the time.

“We got spoiled in Nashville having always had a pretty loose market,” admitted Turner. “Now that it’s so tight I had to go back to literally calling people to ask their aunts, cousins, mothers anybody in their family who might need to get rid of a house. We had to go old-school and find the pocket listings, use wholesalers, be unconventional.”

Turner also shared the qualities she looks for in a home when it comes to flipping potential. “I always find properties that are a hot mess. Every single time,” Turner revealed. ” shakes his head like, ‘What in the world is this?’ And I say, ‘I don’t know, you figure it out.’ I frustrate him to no end.”

HGTV Is Releasing 18 New Episodes of Flip or Flop

We started flip or flip in 2011 and the entire experience changed my life in many unexpected ways. Tv was never a part of my plan. Neither Tarek or I had any background in television, entertainment or design. Self-taught in all ways, she said. Proof that if you set your mind to something, work hard and push yourself you can truly achieve anything.

Hall also said that she was grateful for the amazing team on this journey who always made filming fun and exciting.

From rotten turkeys and wild chickens to rodent infestations and unexpected squatters there was never a dull moment on set, she added.

Hall ended her post by teasing the new season of Christina on the Coastpremiering soon as well as her new spinoff Christina in the Country which will see her renovating homes in Tennessee. The interior designer also teased El Moussas new shows premiering in 2023.

Thank you to each and every one of you who watched us throughout the years, I am very grateful and look forward to creating more tv magic. I have many things up my sleeve coming your way: Josh and I exploring country life and juggling family and career and more of James and I doing our designs from coast to coast. More to come on premiere dates soon, she concluded.

What Happened To Izzy Battres Why Did He Leave ‘flip Or Flop’

Izzy was the contractor helping out show host Christina Anstead and Tarek El Moussa with just about every refurbishing project they took on.

He stole viewers’ hearts with his impeccable work ethic and razor-sharp insights, offering help with the worst fathomable undertakings captured on the show.

Flip or Flop charts the miraculous transformation of some of the most-decrepit properties and Izzy was the person taking care of the nitty-gritty aspects of the work.

As Izzy explained during an appearance onFaith With Flavor, Flip or Flop marked his first experiences with being in front of the camera. As he said, learning to adjust to the differences between doing construction work and creating a TV show was particularly difficult at times.

“We’re used to doing construction, and now we have a director that’s saying, ‘Oh, can you do a quiet demo?’ There’s no such thing as a quiet demo,” Izzy said.

“So you know, having to work with the cameras, the director, and then Tarek and Christina they’re just fun to work with, all the people on the set, different personalities, it’s fun, it’s a great experience, it’s a growing experience cause you gotta adapt to different environments,” he added.

In addition to appearing on Flip or Flop, Izzy also made a name for himself as an ardent advocate of affordable housing devoting a great deal of energy and resources to supporting the work of charities like Habitat for Humanity.

Why Is Flip Or Flop Ending After 10 Seasons

It was just on Thursday that both Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa posted statements on their individual Instagram pages to let their millions of fans know that Flip or Flop was entering the end stages of its long life. The final episode will air next week, and while both thanked everyone who helped to make the series such a success, and noted that the news of the show ending was bittersweet, neither opened up about why Flip or Flop is coming to a close.

However, according to an anonymous show insider who spoke with People, all of the viewers wholl be sad to see the show go can probably guess at the main, alleged reason that Haack and El Moussa have decided to end their popular series:

Tarek and Christina are generally cordial. They’re co-parenting and nothing gets in the way of that. The show was just too intimate of a setting at this point and it was time to close that chapter.

Though it might seem weird to call the setting of a home renovation show intimate, many fans probably realize that Haack and El Moussa have been working together under very different circumstances for the past six years than they did when Flip or Flop began in 2013. The duo were married when the show started, but split in 2016, and continued working on the program together even as they started to move on in their personal lives.

The Alleged Reason Why Hgtv’s Flip Or Flop Is Ending After Ten Seasons

We might know why Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa are ending Flip or Flop.

Flip or Flop stars Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa delivered a shocking blow to fans earlier this week, when they announced that their home renovation / real estate show was going to end with Season 10. This means that the series finale is coming very soon, with the last episode being set for just a few days from their reveal. Now, we know the alleged reason why Haack and El Moussa are calling it quits after 10 blockbuster seasons.

Struggles With Cancer And Infertility

Beautiful Modern Home With AMAZING Backyard! | Flip or Flop | HGTV

Shortly after the show started, the couple encountered some challenges in their personal lives. Tarek was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and shortly after, testicular cancer, which he kept a secret. He was undergoing radiation as Christina faced her own battle: getting pregnant via in vitro fertilization.

In 2014, Christina miscarried. She was able to get pregnant again, but she “had to be super strict,” as she told People in 2015. She couldn’t go on walks, work, or lift anything that weighed more than a jug of milkand that included the couple’s young daughter. “We did everything we could to make sure this one worked.”

Meanwhile, Tarek had suffered a debilitating back injury, meaning both were bedridden. ” was two months of sheer torture,” Christina said.

As Tarek revealed recently, his recovery actually took a year and a half. “I lost 50 pounds and was taking large amounts of pain meds to try and help the pain,” he explained in an Instagram post. “Truthfully those meds really affected my mental and physical state and changed who I was.”

“The tension between me and Tarek was high,” she continued. “We weren’t able to properly communicate anymore. It got to the point where we weren’t even driving to set together.”

Flip Or Flop Fans Will See Christina Hall And Tarek El Moussa In Future Hgtv Shows

Now that Flip or Flop is officially over, Christina and Tarek are looking forward to their new shows. Christina and her husband Joshua Hall signed on for her show, Christina in the Country, which will air on HGTV on Jan. 12, 2023. As for Tarek, hes working on a new show called Flipping 101, and he and his wife Heather Rae El Moussa reportedly have an eight-part docuseries called The Flipping El Moussas in the works for 2023.

Although Tarek and Christina collaborated on the Flip or Flop series finale, fans almost didnt get any closure from the reality stars. In March 2022, People reported that the divorcees chose to end the show because filming had become too intimate for them and their new partners.

Since their divorce, Christina and Tarek have moved on, as Christina in April 2022 and Tarek married Selling Sunset star Heather Rae El Moussa in October 2021.

According to one of Peoples sources, Christina and Tareks working relationship got intense when he reportedly called Heather a hotter version of his ex-wife. Ouch. After a short hiatus, the exes, who also share two children, Taylor Reese and Brayden James, made nice for their shows sendoff.

Flip Or Flop Nashville Debuted A Digital Companion Series

In addition to showcasing Page Turner and DeRon Jenkins flipping houses for profit on Flip or Flop Nashville, HGTV invited fans of the show to enjoy a whole other side of the ex-couple in a companion series, Flip or Flop Nashville: Ride With Me. In a series of brief episodes all between five and ten minutes in length Turner and Jenkins took viewers into some of Nashville’s hippest neighborhoods and engaged in some unique activities.

For fans of the show, Ride With Me offered much to enjoy. For example, one episode found the “rhythmically challenged” Turner learning some hip-hop jitterbug dance moves at Nashville’s Millennium Dance Complex. Additional episodes followed them as they took kickboxing lessons, learned how to throw axes, joined tourists on a Nashville bus tour, and attempted the art of standup comedy at the city’s Zanies Comedy Club, with Jenkins’ pal, comedian T.C. Cope, offering the former NFL player a few pointers for performing a standup set. Jenkins, probably wisely, elected to stay in the audience and leave the comedy to Cope maybe next time!

Why Is Flip Or Flop Ending

It seems that the former married couple are now also breaking up the creative partnership to focus on their own separate projects on the network.

As announced by Deadline at the start of March 2022, El Moussa and Haack recently re-upped their HGTV talent deals, securing the future of their solo shows Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa and Christina on the Coast. Season 4 of the latter is expected to come in late 2022, while Season 3 of the former is set for early 2023.

As such, it seems that the couple simply decided to stop making the show when their initial contracts ran out.

It should perhaps not come as a surprise that the former married couple no longer want to make the show together. After all, both have married other people since divorcing in 2018. Haack married For the Love of Cars host Ant Anstead in 2018 and divorced him in 2020 . She is now engaged to realtor Joshua Hall.

El Moussa, meanwhile, married Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young in October 2021, in a wedding that was the subject of its own HGTV special.

El Moussa, meanwhile, wrote: “You guys have been with us through it allâyou watched me beat cancer, you’ve watched the babies grow up into the most amazing little humans, and everything in between but I’m not going anywhere and I can promise that you are going to love what comes next!”

So Why Did Izzy Disappear From ‘flip Or Flop’

Flip Or Flop

The contractor last appeared on the show in a 2019 episode titled “Small House, Big Problems.”

As he explained in a previous interview with House Beautiful, the rumors surrounding Tarek and Christina’s divorce influenced his decision.

For a while, Izzy was facing false accusations concerning his romantic involvement with Christina and the perceived role he played in her fall out with Derek.

More importantly, however, Izzy was offered a spot on Christina’s new venture, titled Christina on The Coast. Season 2 premiered on Jan. 2, 2020. According to TV Cancel Renew, HGTV has yet to greenlight Season 3.

Flip Or Flop Nashville’s Deron Jenkins Is One Of People’s Sexiest Handymen Alive

As a former NFL cornerback with the Baltimore Ravens and a popular HGTV television personality, DeRon Jenkins has a few accomplishments under his belt about which he can rightfully boast. In 2018, People gave him one more when, in its annual “Sexiest Man Alive” issue, Jenkins was named as one of the magazine’s “Sexiest Handymen Alive.”

Other 2018 honorees included Fixer Upper‘s Chip Gaines, Trading Spaces‘ Carter Oosterhouse and Brett Tutor, and Property Brothers‘ Drew and Jonathan Scott.

Speaking with People, Jenkins admitted that all that sexiness doesn’t come without some serious effort, revealing that he hits the gym five times a week. “My goal is that when people look at me, they say, ‘Well, I can see that he used to play professional football,'” the Flip or Flop Nashville star quipped. His advice for handymen who don’t manage to achieve that particular degree of sexiness is to try to impress using one’s skills with three basic tools: “a screwdriver, a flashlight and a hammer.” He said, “You can do a lot with those things.”

Where Did Christina Haack Get Her Money

Christina Haack initially earned her money through her real estate company with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa. The one-time couple was able to leverage their business into a successful HGTV series Flip or Flop, which has spawned several franchises. Because of the equity she has earned from Flip or Flop, Hall has also been able to write a book and launch her own furniture company as well as her own series, Christina on the Coast and the new Christina in the Country.

How Flip Or Flop Nashville’s Deron Jenkins Went From Football To Flipping Houses

The transition from professional football to renovating and flipping houses may not seem like a natural progression, but it came organically to Flip or Flop Nashville‘s DeRon Jenkins. In an interview with HGTV, Jenkins revealed it all started when he bought his first home, a fixer-upper in Baltimore, after being drafted by the Ravens. He figured he’d attempt the basement reno all by himself. “I really had no idea what I was doing,” Jenkins recalled, adding, “Before I knew it, I renovated this home.”

After he retired from pro football, he told the Knoxville News Sentinel, “It kind of all came back to me.” That led him to buy a house in Nashville and renovate it, a project that went so well he decided to go pro. During his first two years, the fledgling contractor figured he worked on between 15 and 20 homes, and he launched his own contracting company, DY Construction. “I honestly didn’t make a ton of money, but I always call it like my schooling ’cause I feel like I sort of paid for it, but I didn’t lose money,” he admitted. “But I learned a lot. I learned the business.”
