Provides Insightful Sales Analytics And Trends
StockXs popularity is derived from its unique idea of offering a selling market that is similar to the Stock Exchange. The fact that they provide sales analytics helps make StockX not only be a great a resale platform but also a tool.
In fact, you can use those tools to sell on other platforms or in person. Many resellers and sneakerheads use StockX to gauge what is an acceptable price when selling face to face or even negotiating online. Like it or not, StockX is used as a guide for all other platforms.
Can You Sell On Goat Without A Box
Payment process: Once the sneakers are verified, the money will be credited to your GOAT account, which you can use to buy sneakers or you can cash out. Once youre verified, you can sell new or used sneakers with or without a box. They also launched a program where they clean your sneakers for you.
How Does Goat Make Money
GOAT is a resale marketplace for authentic sneakers that enables sneakerheads to buy and sell authentic sneakers. GOAT makes money in the same way that most marketplaces do. It takes a percentage of each sale.
The business model of GOAT is pretty straightforward: GOAT makes money by charging sellers a fee for every successful sale. There are no listing fees, no subscriptions, and they dont hold any inventory.
This is called the revenue split model because GOAT doesnt own any of the inventory.
The seller fee is the same whether youre listing an item at $100 or $1,000. The 9.5% commission fee will be subtracted from your final sale price before your money is deposited into your bank account. In other words, if you sell an item for $100, GOAT will take $9.50 out of your final sale price
All sellers start with a rating score of 90. And they have to pay a commission fee that is the sum of the platforms 9.5% commission and an additional seller fee.
For every cancellation, they deduct 10 points from their rating. On the other hand, for every successful sale, they add 2 points to the rating.
Even when a sellers rating drops, GOAT may charge them 9.5% if they successfully deliver authentic products.
GOAT currently does not make money by selling customer data or ads.

Note: The seller fee is different for every user depending on the location and the shipping address.

What Is Goat And How Does It Work
GOAT is an online marketplace to buy and sell authentic sneakers via the web and mobile app. It accesses the secondary market as an intermediary between sellers and buyers, verifying authenticity for the buyer.
Based in 13 locations worldwide, their ship-to-verify model and buyer protection make them a trustworthy brand. Their selection ranges from trending releases in the present, rare collections from the past, and unreleased samples from the future.
They provide an experience that allows anyone to purchase the exact shoe they want at a price they are willing to pay.
Their business model works best when we connect the most passionate buyers with the most passionate sellers. Think of it in terms of supply and demand if they can match up the right sneaker with the right customer, everyone wins.
Goat Funding And Valuation
Initially, the company raised $7.6 billion in funding from Y combinator, Upfront Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, and Reddit.
In 2017, GOAT merged with Flight Club and became the largest monopoly in the secondary sneaker marketplace. Despite the merger, the two brands operated independently, capturing different channels in the marketplace.
GOAT focused on web and mobile app sales, and Flight Club dominated the global retail and e-commerce market with its physical stores.
The GOAT group raised $60 million in funding through venture capital firms like Index Ventures, Webb Investment Network, Matrix Partners, Upfront Ventures, and Accel.
Although GOAT targets a niche market, its backed up by large investments. In 2019, Footlocker invested 100 million in GOAT, making it their largest investment in history.
A strategic investment aimed to create a seamless, frictionless experience for customers partaking in the secondary market. GOAT used the funding to scale operations and meet domestic and international demand. Footlocker leveraged GOATs technology to advance the sneaker buying experience.
GOAT has recently raised another $195 million in Series F financing, a massive round that values the company at $3.7 billion, according to sources familiar with the deal.

Both Provide Free Shipping
In return for requiring your sneakers to be shipped to them for authentication, they provide free shipping. This also means that they assume all shipping liability to the customer. So you still get paid even if the customer receives a damaged box.
In fact, you get paid as soon as they verify the authenticity of your sneakers. Of course, you do have to make sure that you package them well enough to be delivered.
How Can You Tell If The Items Are Real
Goat strives to ensure that all things offered on GOAT exceed their standards of quality and are legitimate.
To achieve their objective of being the most recognized marketplace for footwear, they enable buyers, depending on the shipping method. Thatll happen with either an assurance of authenticity or a buyer protection policy.
Suppose your item is shown to be inauthentic and does not meet its description after receiving direct delivery from a designated seller. In that case, youll be eligible for a refund or GOAT Credit under our buyer protection policy.
Suppose GOAT specialists think your product is inauthentic during the on-site authentication process. In that situation, theyll notify you and issue a complete refund following our Assurance of Authenticity for a ship to direct verify orders.

Stockx Offers Bulk Shipping
Earlier I mentioned that both platforms provide free shipping for sellers. However, StockX takes it one step further than that by offering bulk shipping. This great if you are selling a large amount of inventory and need some space. It also saves you time from going back and forth every day to ship off orders.
It Takes Longer To Use These Apps
Read says that having websites that act as middlemen and authenticators makes the whole process longer.
“It’s a long process, and it’s like, I like to get my stuff done,” Read said, adding that he has a lot of customers who request and pay for overnight shipping.
Read said people generally want their shoes right away, which makes selling through Facebook and Instagram a better bet.

How Does Goat Authenticate Sneakers
With thousands of shoe listing on their marketplace, tracking down knock-offs is no mean feat.
GOAT, however, uses its propriety AI technology to stomp out fake sneakers. With their computer vision and several Amazon Web Services tools, GOAT is able to verify the authenticity of the products by replicating the key features and properties of each shoe digitally.
GOAT Chief Technology Officer Andy Shin told ZDNet: We use a lot of different heuristics and data points to verify whether the shoe is authentic or not. We see the most sneakers in the world. And we are the leader in data collection around sneakers. So every shoe that comes in, were collecting all the data points for it.
So we actually, we know what fakes look like. And we know what real shoes look like. Every single sneaker has multiple data points that we focus on, he added.
In addition, GOAT also has a team of sneaker experts that can easily tell the difference between real and fake shoes even without the use of AI.
GOATs lead data scientist Emmanuelle Fuentes said: They can spot a fake in like 10 seconds.
The team of authenticators works with the AI to ID and further ensure the authenticity of the shoes.
To support our verification process, we have logged hundreds of thousands of data points on our products to help define their authenticity. Our specialists go through rigorous training and inspect everything from the label to stitching, texture to color, and so much more.
Tips For Selling Your Used Shoes
When it comes to selling your shoes online, list your items on more than one site. The more places you list your shoes, the more people will see them. This means theyll sell faster, and youll make more money in the long run.
Instead of choosing one site, experiment with a few and see where your target buyer is most likely to shop.
Secondly, make sure your pictures are high-quality and accurate. No one wants to buy a pair of like-new boots only to find several major scuff marks. You dont want to get bad reviews or deal with returns because your shoes didnt live up to their profile picture.
Consider what condition your items are in before you start looking for buyers. Take some time to clean them up and make them presentable. If no amount of cleaning can repair their current state, then you may want to consider donating them instead.
Finally, be realistic about how much money you might earn from your used shoes. Consider what youd pay if you were the buyer. If you price your shoes too high, it will take longer to find an interested buyer. However, you can usually adjust your pricing and experiment to find the sweet spot.

Buying And Selling On Goat
Francisco Avila, Staff Writer|December 6, 2019
Ever since the first pair of Nike or Adidas shoes hit the market, there has been a desire to acquire the latest pair of Jordans or Yeezys.
In todays world, that passion no longer requires you to actually visit a shoe store. Now there are apps that allow you to buy and sell the latest shoes on your cellphone.
During the recent Black Friday craze, many MC students seemed obsessed with the app known as GOAT as they attempted to score those cheap new Adidas Yeezys or Nike Jordans.
Mount Carmel seniors like Nick Gulotta and Diego Torres have taken full advantage of this opportunity, and feel like the GOAT app is reliable.
Its really a trustworthy app and I use it all the time, says Torres
GOAT is an online marketplace for people to resell used or new shoes. You list the shoes youd like to sell, then send those shoes to GOAT who verifies them and makes sure theyre in prime condition. Afterwards the shoes are sold to a customer, with the money going to users like Torres.
Senior Nick Gulotta started using GOAT when it first came out in 2015. While he was hesitant to use it right away, he soon determined that the app was legit. Gulotta estimates he has made about $4,000 dollars from selling his used and new shoes on GOAT.
Gulotta and Torres both intend to continue using this app.
Gulotta noted, GOAT is probably something Ill be using as long as Im dealing with shoes.

You Can Sell Used Sneakers
In my opinion, selling used sneakers is the best way of getting started with sneaker reselling. It is just so much easier to get started than trying to cop hype releases. Dont get me wrong, there is definitely money to be made with selling hype sneakers. However, when you sell used sneakers you dont have to fight so much competition or have to speculate much what the resale value is going to be.
There is Less Competition Selling Used Sneakers
Not only that, but there is a lot less competition with selling used sneakers. A lot of resellers are not dependent upon income from their sneakers. Most of the hype sneaker resellers are teenagers or young adults looking to make some extra cash on the side. However, if you are looking to become a full-time sneaker reseller, then selling used sneakers is where its at.
Its a Sellers Market
The used sneaker resale market is a sellers market. There are a few reasons for this. One reason is that sellers have the power to set the going price. This is in comparison to where customers drive the resale price like on StockX.

Stockx Vs Goat Fees Which Is Better
StockX and GOAT are both excellent online sneaker markets. On StockX, you can buy and sell accessories, streetwear, watches, and collectibles. GOAT only focuses on sneakers, and it is doing quite well.
StockX and GOAT are both very good, but what their differences? How do their fees compare for sellers? What about the shipping? If you want to know the answers to all of these questions, you are in the right place.
Read on for an in-depth comparison of the two sites.
From Fake Air Jordans To A Trusted Reseller
College friends Eddy Lu and Daishin Sugano, a developer and designer, were serial entrepreneurs who had quit their corporate job to pursue ideas. They developed high-cost, low-quality apps when the iPhone came out and failed a few times.
In 2013, Sugano purchased a pair of Air Jordan 5 Grapes from eBay, which turned out to be fake. That is when sneaker enthusiasts Lu and Sugano identified a lucrative market for secondary sneaker brands.
The rise in counterfeit sneakers available created significant problems for brands, an issue that Lu and Sugano could solve through GOAT.
Two years later, in 2015, they founded GOAT to build a trusted marketplace for authentic sneakers.

Is Goat A Reliable Sneaker Trading Platform
The rise of e-commerce platforms has contributed to the growth of counterfeit goods, making it difficult to find legit online selling sites and platforms.
GOAT, which is a nod to the sports term for Greatest of All Time, is one of the most reliable platforms for buying and selling sneakers today.
Launched in 2015, GOAT was founded by college friends Eddy Lu and Daishin Sugano. The idea of a sneaker buy-and-sell app came after Daishin bought a retro pair of Air Jordan 5 Grapes, which turned out to be fake.
Scottie Pippens first official signature shoe, the Air Pippen, in the OG black and Varsity Red colorway, retails for $378,073
As a self-confessed sneakerhead, Daishin was left disappointed, more so because he was not able to get his money back due to eBays poor policy.
It became apparent that the industry I loved was fragmented and unsafe. Many people buying sneakers were running into the same problems. There are entire subreddits, social accounts, and blogs built around how to spot fakes.
We knew we could use technology to solve many of the existing problems and with the knowledge we already had in the space, we would have an additional edge. We also decided it was important for us to find an industry that serves a passionate and youthful generation.
After talking with Eddy about his experience, the two decided to build the app with an aim to become the worlds most trusted marketplace.
