Sandals South Coast Resort Jamaica
A beautiful Caribbean all-inclusive resort located on the island of Jamaica, the Sandals South Coast resort, formally known as the Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa, is a paradise all on its own. Here guests will find a beautiful white sand beach stretching 2 miles long along with a lush nature preserve spanning 500 acres. The resort itself is spread out among 50 acres and is divided into distinctive European Villages, offering charm in every direction.
Guests will also find several pools here, including one that is detailed as Jamaica’s largest. In addition, guests can take the opportunity to enjoy one of the resort’s many water sports, including snorkeling and kayaking along with one of the nine different restaurants and a large spa. Because this resort acts on an all-inclusive basis, you’ll find that all on-site food and beverages are included, as well as the use of facilities and resort water sport equipment. However, rooms rates are higher for 1 and 2 night stays in comparison to those lasting 3 nights or longer.

Sandals has overwater bungalows in two of its Jamaica resorts, as well as at its resort in St. Lucia. Ive had the privilege to visit all three of them and I wrote a little guide to help you decide which Sandals overwater bungalow resort is best for you. Sandals premiere resort in their home country of Jamaica was the first to add overwater bungalows in December, 2016. Each of the 17 overwater bungalows have a private pool, jacuzzi, glass floor sections, and a personal butler. Because this is the Caribbean, the inside space of these water bungalows is not huge, but when you add in the deck area and the splash pool then these places are really enormous.
The resort has 3 different classes of overwater bungalows here, and all of them are ultra-luxurious with room rates to match. The Sandals Royal Caribbean is such a short drive from Montego Bay Airport that guests are treated to the sound of planes taking off a few times per hour during the day. The sound only lasts a few seconds each time and most people get used to it quickly, but it is something to consider if you are sensative to such things.
Since this resort is so close to the airport and Montego Bay has flights coming in from all over, this is a great choice for short visits where you dont want to spend half a day in transit.

When Is Best Time To Visit Jamaica
One of the best times to visit the Caribbean is from December to April when the weather is slightly cooler. Keep in mind, though, that average temperatures can reach the mid-eighties in July and August.
Hurricane season is generally from August to the end of October, so its best to avoid these dates unless booking a last-minute escape.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Jamaica
The first Caribbean overwater bungalows opened in 2016 at Sandals Royal Caribbean resort in Montego Bay. An immediate success, these Over-The-Water Bungalows have light up glass floor panels inside, king-size beds and spa-style bathrooms.
Theres an outdoor shower, suspended patio with a swim-up platform and an over-the-water hammock. Each overwater bungalow benefits from Sandals butler service and private water taxis.
Enjoy 24-hour room service, together with unlimited fine dining at any of the 9 Sandals Royal Caribbean restaurants. Just ten minutes from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, this resort is only an hour away from the many activities in Ocho Rios.
So How Close Is It Really
Looking at my own travel, door to door from Washington, D.C. to Montego Bay, Jamaica was 6 hours, including a layover and plane change.
When I went to Bora Bora, total travel time was about 22 hours with three layovers and three plane changes. In addition, I had to take a 25 minute boat ride to the resort.
Going to Maldives can sometimes take more than a day. There are no direct flights from DC and most flights change over in Qatar, then go onto Maldives. From there, you take a boat or plane to your resort. Timings vary.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Resort & Private Island In Montego Bay Jamaica
There are 5 butler-serviced units at Sandals Royal Caribbean that are built in a heart-shaped along a wooden walkway and attached to Sandals Cay, the resorts private island.
Here, guests can enjoy a newly redesigned pool and pool bar, along with The Jerk Shack and Royal Thai restaurants, while the rest of the resort is a quick boat ride away.

Sandals Royal Caribbean Overwater Villas
This room category is definitely my favorite of all the rooms Sandals Resorts offer. The overwater villa is essentially divided into three spaces with doors. When you first walk in, you have a pantry with a fully stocked bar, coffee machine, fridge, and a table for dining indoors. Your Butler will stock your bar and fridge at your request.
In the second room, you have a massive area with a king sized bed, two comfy chairs, a work station, big TV, and a large see through area of the floor to see the marine life.
In the third room, a tranquility soaking tub, shower, separate toilet, and walk-in closet.
Each of these three spaces can be closed off to the other rooms and all have access to the deck, which is the entire length of the villa.

Sandals South Coast is very large indeed with different European themed sections such as French Village, Italian Village, Dutch Village and Venetian Piazza.
There is a lot going on around the resort though the overwater bungalow section is slightly away from it all and so very peaceful.
You have nine gourmet restaurants to choose from which serve consistently excellent European, Asian and Caribbean cuisine, as well as eleven different bars with a range of musical, and other, entertainment, and a huge range of premium drinks.
You can do some duty-free shopping at the collection of resort boutiques and luxury jewelers, browse art galleries or play sports such as beach volleyball, tennis, billiards, table tennis and shuffle board.
There is a state of the art gym and fitness center here, and the tranquil oasis of the Red Lane Spa has, amongst other things, a beauty salon, a yoga-pilates studio, a steam room, plunge pools and several secluded outdoor relaxation areas.
The all inclusive package grants guests access to a wide range of water based activities water skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, wake boarding, wind surfing, glass bottom boat trips etc. etc. and on dry land you can play beach volleyball, tennis, billiards, shuffleboard, table tennis and more.

Arrival At Sandals South Coast Jamaica
Each step of your experience is carefully thought-out to ensure a smooth process. Our private luxury Sandals transfer was waiting for us at the airport with cold drinks and gourmet snacks. After the 90-minute drive to the resort, we were greeted by cold, refreshing towels and citrus cocktails.
After a short tour of the property, we took the ocean view walkway to our new home away from home, our private bungalow.
