Where To Buy Allbird Shoes

How Do I Wash Allbirds

Allbirds Shoe Review | Why you should buy them

Washing Allbirds shoes is a bit different than your regular sneakers. Since Allbirds shoes are made from wool and tree fibers, they cannot simply be thrown into the washing machine.

You can exit that Google search though, because this Allbirds shoes review has got you covered on how to wash these products. Here are the simple steps to washing your Allbirds shoes:

  • Remove the insoles and laces these should be gently washed by hand
  • Place your shoes in a mesh laundry bag and wash in cold water, on the gentle cycle and using a gentle detergent
  • Let your shoes air dry
  • Should You Invest In The Allbirds Ipo

Unrealistic revenue expectations arent the only problem with the Allbirds IPO. The company will have to invest heavily in brick-and-mortar retail stores to keep growing, but it hasnt become profitable and wont be so anytime soon. Allbirds lost $14.5 million in 2019, and nearly $26 million in 2020, although some of those losses were driven by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The IPO may be a worthwhile bet if Allbirds can keep accumulating new customers, but its become more and more dependent on repeat customers. In 2018, for instance, sales from new customers represented 59% of the companys net sales, compared to just 47% in 2020. How will it be able to broaden its scope to justify the frothy valuation?

Thats a hard question to answer at the momentand one that should motivate you to pause before buying. If youre a fan of Allbirds product, by all means, keep buying. But just because a company says its embraced ESG ideals doesnt mean itll live up to themor be able to sell enough shoes to earn you a decent return.

Sometimes you have to walk before you can fly.

Allbirds Shoes Review: What Do Customers Think

All of Allbirds products have dozens, if not hundreds, of five-star reviews. Overall satisfaction among customers seems to be unanimous, that these shoes deliver on both style and comfort.

One happy customer left this review for the Mens Wool Runners: Ive put thousands upon thousands of steps into my first pair. These shoes are great. Ive struggled all my life finding a sturdy AND breathable athletic shoe and the struggle is over. Ill be buying these again.

For the Womens Tree Breezers, one buyer put it simply, writing: These shoes are so comfortable! Theyre my new favorite pair of flats!

No matter what pair of shoes youre browsing, the reviews do not stray from total customer satisfaction. Stylish, comfortable and good for the planet? Allbirds seems to be the total package.

So Are Allbirds Worth The Money

    100% yes.

Id even go so far as to say that $95 is a steal for how comfortable Allbirds sneakers are.

And really, $95 isnt that much money for a quality pair of sneakers these days.

If youre looking to purchase Allbirds as your daily sneaker, even if they only last for a year, that comes out to a $0.25 investment per day.

Not bad for happy and warm feet.

    Comparison: Allbirds Vs Native Shoes

    Women

Though Allbirds is a great brand for shoes, there are a few other brands out there that offer similar shoes. One of these brands is Native Shoes.

Founded in 2009, Native Shoes has been making ethical, lightweight options for men and women that are made from ethylene-vinyl acetate, a BPA-free and eco-friendly substance. Though their reputation for sustainable shoes is impeccable, lets see how they measure up to Allbirds.

Given the make and materials of Native Shoes and Allbirds, the brands claim that they are entirely hand-washable with cold water and a light detergent. So a tie on the convenience factor! But, one crucial difference between these brands is the arch support that is included in Allbirds shoes and the added space to insert your own insoles.

First off, Native Shoes delivers worldwide while Allbirds only delivers their shoes to the US from their official site. But, Allbirds are available at retailers around the world and on Amazon. Plus, Allbirds shipping is free for orders $50+ and returns are free.

Now for the price. Allbirds come for the price of $95 on average while Native Shoes are $35-$160 depending upon the style of shoe desired. If you are looking for the finest and most popular shoes that Native Shoes offers, you are most likely looking at $120-$160 for their adult styles.

    How To Wash Allbirds

Part of creating a sustainable product is ensuring that you dont have to engage in overconsumption. Washing a pair of Allbirds means your shoes last longer, and the company aims to make cleaning easy: so you can just toss them into the washing machine. When your Allbirds are looking a bit worse for wear, remove the insoles and laces, and brush off any excess grime with a towel or soft brush. Then, just put your shoes in your washer on a wool or delicates cyclebe sure it uses cold water.

Another tip on how to clean Allbirds? The brand recommends placing your shoes inside a laundry bag when washing, but Ive never done this and have never suffered any consequences. You can also wash the insoles, if needed, by hand. Because Allbirds shoes are made of wool and tree fibers that can be damaged in high heat, never tumble dry your sneakers: just let them air dry, and by the next day, they should be as good as new.

    Do Allbirds Get Smelly

They can do. For average usage, it shouldnt be a problem, but when I wore mine without socks every day for months, they did start to smell.

The best way to get rid of the smell is to soak the insoles in soapy water for a while and then rinse and air dry. You can also buy replacement insoles.

In two years with the Wool Runners as my main pair of shoes, I replaced my insoles three times, washed the insoles twice, and washed the entire pair of shoes in the washing machine three times .

Meet Allbirds: the brand known for its sheep-like comfort, everyday wear and cozy style.

And while its Wool Runners are the star of the show, the sustainably-made shoe company has more pairs to choose from.

With breathable materials and a flexible contour, Allbirds shoes are reliable for running errands, running outside or even running to a backyard birthday bash. Whatever your lifestyle, Allbirds is the popular shoe worth shopping for.

Plus, a pair of Allbirds makes the perfect gift. My sister gifted my mother a pair for her birthday, and she was impressed by how comfortable they were and how flattering they fit. Truly, Allbirds is one of those brands that, once somebody introduces you to it, you cant neglect it.

But lets be upfront about the one con some flag about Allbirds: the price. While the price point is relatively comparable to a new pair of Adidas or Nikes, youre also getting more nifty features designed for every type of wear. Some Allbirds are even more affordable, too. .

Were all about shoes that make a good first impression, but just as impressive is a shoe thats sustainable. Made from a host of eco-friendly materials, like merino wool and sugarcane, theres no question about it these shoes are next-level comfy. And theyre machine washable.

One last note: These shoes are perfect for trekking back to school or commuting back to the office.

I dont like wearing shoes. Where possible, I go barefoot or wear the minimal footwear possible.

But Allbirds sneakers are the least shoe-like shoes Ive ever worn. They are soft and snuggly, more like slippers than running shoes, but they look good enough for city exploring.

What makes Allbirds eco-friendly shoes stand out is their use of New Zealand merino wool. I have long been a fan of this superfine wool for socks and t-shirts as its soft, breathable, moisture-wicking, and odour-resistant.

I wasnt sure how wool would work in shoes but was intrigued by the claim that Allbirds make the worlds most comfortable shoes.

Could this possibly be true? I bought a pair two years ago and have put them to the test on our travels from winter in Australia to all seasons in New Zealand.

This Allbirds review will focus on the pros and cons of the original Allbirds Wool Runners, but Ill also compare them to the Allbirds Tree Runners, which Simon has.

Womens Allbirds are identical to the mens version, so my review applies to both.

    Free Shipping In Many Countries

Much of our favourite travel gear is available in the US only, so Im really pleased that Allbirds are available online in the US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and China.

Best of all, shipping is free for all orders over $50 .

I ordered my Allbirds Wool Runners in Australia and they took four working days to arrive.

In the US, shipping takes 5 10 business days, or you can pay for expedited shipping . Simon ordered his Allbirds in New Zealand and they arrived in a couple of days.

I love the simple packaging that the Allbirds arrive in. They use just one box made from 90% recycled cardboard thats easy to open and works as the shoebox, shopping bag, and mailer all in one.

    Womens Tree Breezers $98

    • Color options: Heathered Black , Navy Night
    • Limited edition color options: Mist , Harvest , Cocoa , Turtle Shell , Asteroid , Frost , Everest
    • Size options: 5-11

Its time to reimagine ballet flats with the Tree Breezers. This pair has a ribbed collar for the perfect fit, is made from silk-smooth material and is naturally derived from eucalyptus trees. Plus, theyre super flattering on the feet.

    Warm & Cool Weather Wear

Allbirds says their Wool Runners stay cool in the heat and warm in the cold. Well, on hot days my feet still got a bit warm and sweaty so dont expect these to be like air conditioning for your feet. That said, I didnt feel like these were too much different than other sneakers I wear and they did dry fairly quickly.

However, the Allbirds Tree Runners are much more light and breezy than the Wool Runners so theyre better suited for the summer.

And now that Autumns cooler weather has arrived in NYC, I find that my Wool Runners keep my feet comfy when I take Henry out on his nightly walks around the block.

Allbirds arent made for rainy weather so your feet will get wet fairly quickly if you get caught in the rain.

My Detailed Allbirds Review After Trying Out The Allbirds Wool Runners And Tree Runners As Well As A Quick Look At Every Allbirds Shoe Style To Compare And Contrast The Right One For You

    Women

Full disclosure: this post contains affiliate links, which help run this site at no extra cost to you so I can keep providing free travel advice and tips. I also received one complimentary pair of Allbirds shoes and bought a second pair for myself, but all opinions are my own.

When I first saw an Allbirds review on a New York lifestyle blog back in 2015, I was immediately drawn to the look and style of Allbirds sneakers.

Add in the fact that they were touted as the most comfortable shoes in the world and I knew they were at least a shoe brand I wanted to try out in the near future.

    Fast forward five years .

I found myself scrolling through the Allbirds website, mouth agape, as I looked at the many styles of shoes the brand now offered.

I had been following the company on and off for the past few years, but I was impressed by how many new styles and colors of Allbirds there were to choose from now.

After perusing the site for a while, I finally got two pairs to try out for myself the Allbirds Wool Runners and the Allbirds Tree Runners.

Due to their stellar return and exchange policy, I was originally planning on trying out both and sending back the one I liked the least.

But I have to be real guys Ive sipped the Allbirds kool-aid and theres no going back.

I ended up keeping both the Wool Runners and the Tree Runners because they were more different than I expected.

I could easily justify keeping both pairs for different reasons.

    Can Be Worn Without Socks

As Allbirds sneakers are so soft, you can comfortably wear them without socks, which is what I do most of the time. They feel great on my feet and Ive had no issues with rubbing.

I even find them easy to pull on and off without untying the laces . They were especially convenient to wear to yoga classthey kept my feet warm on chilly mornings, but I could slip them off easily before class.

I havent worn them to Japan yet, but they would have been ideal for our trip there in early spring. I would have appreciated a warm pair of shoes I could slip off easily at temples and traditional restaurants and hotels.

My Allbirds were ideal for sailing in early autumn when I wanted to alternate between being barefoot and wearing shoes. I could put them on easily when the weather turned colder or when I wanted more protection when dropping the anchor.

The non-marking soles were ideal on the yacht and gripped well on the wet deck.

    Overview Of Allbirds Shoes

In 2016, this San Francisco based brand was created by Tim Brown, a former professional soccer player. Brown, a New Zealand native, wondered why the wool from the merino sheep was not being used in the footwear industry. He brought Joey Zwillinger, an engineer, onto his team and from there, Allbirds was created.

Allbirds mission is simple: create sleek, stylish sneakers that look great on your feet and dont harm the environment. Its time to swap out your carbon footprint for a regular one!

Wool is the key material in Allbirds footwear. Allbirds wool shoes are made using the finest merino wool from New Zealand, crafting it in a textile mill in Milan, Italy, and manufactured in China. Their shoelaces are made from recycled plastic and all of their packaging is made from 90% recycled cardboard. Sounds too good to be true, right?

Do Allbirds Ever Go On Sale

After reaching out to Allbirds directly the answer is, no. On Black Friday, the brand does offer exclusive colors, but there are no coupons, and the brand never holds sales.

Allbird’s provides high quality products, constructed from recycled materials and natural fibers, which is why they don’t believe in coupons. The brand’s main focus is bringing top-of-the-line merchandise to their customers while simultaneously providing sustainably constructed pieces. They also provide extreme comfort: “As a whole, the brand’s shoes are exceptionally comfortable,” says Good Housekeeping Institute Textiles Director Lexie Sachs. “Sixty-five people of varying size, genders and style preferences rated the shoes comfortable to wear.” While you can’t take dollars off of your purchase as a customer, you are reducing your carbon footprint without sacrificing style and comfort.

However, there are ways to cut costs when purchasing your Allbirds online. If you spend $50 or more, you receive free shipping, which is easy since all women’s and men’s shoes are at least $95 and up. The company also offers free returns, so if you aren’t satisfied with your purchase, you don’t have to worry about using your own money to send them back. Allbirds also has a 30-day program, allowing you to return them regardless if they’re worn.

The first shoe the company released was the Wool Runner, made from New Zealand superfine merino wool, wrote the New York Times in a 2017 article which discussed how popular the shoes had become in Silicon Valley.

Other materials utilized by the company include tree, sugar and Trino, which the retailer says it crafted from a hefty serving of responsibly harvested eucalyptus tree fibers and a handful of ZQ Merino wool.

Other materials Allbirds uses include recycled nylon and recycled bottles. One recycled plastic bottle equals one pair of Allbirds laces. Reincarnation is a beautiful thing.
