The is a comfortable and affordable hiking boot that feels good right out of the box. Testers were blister-free over dozens of miles, and the arch support is some of the best in the category. The insole and EVA midsole provide excellent cushioning, and the padded tongue minimizes chafing during ankle flexion. The suede and mesh upper don’tlook waterproof, but in reality, it offers above-average protection through shallow water crossings and mud. We also appreciate the traction pattern on the sole, which reduces build-up in mucky conditions.

We think the Moab 2 Mid offers a terrific mid-height option, but they don’t provide the same support as a high-ankle boot. In addition, the suede and mesh upper have less rigidity than other models with nubuck or thicker nylon. And, despite their shorter height, the thick cushioning made for some especially sweaty feet on warm days. Though we didn’t necessarily notice a huge difference, these boots are in the middle of the pack for weight, even though they don’t provide as much ankle coverage. However, all things considered, the out-of-the-box comfort, solid all-around performance, and approachable price point make these shoes an excellent value.

Keen Targhee Iii Waterproof Mid Care And Maintenance

Generally, it is recommended to use a soft-bristled brush or a hand towel in removing loose dirt. For stain removal, a gum eraser can help. Gently rub it in a circular motion on the affected area. Brush lightly afterward. To eliminate stubborn stains, mix water, and a little vinegar on a slightly wet cloth. This process may cause discoloration.

In taking care of the boots leather, KEEN recommends applying a leather cleaner and conditioner. Footbeds are advised to be washed manually using a soft cloth and light detergent. Let it air dry and never expose it to extreme heat to facilitate drying. Also, machine washing is not recommended.

In case of persistent odor, rub some tea tree essential oil on the lining of the upper. Apply on the footbed too. There are also powders available that can be applied directly to the shoe after use. If the insole of the shoe is not removable, hand wash its interior using a gentle cleaning agent.

When the boot is not used regularly, it may cause the adhesive used in the outsole to dry and crack. This results in delamination . If this happens, KEEN recommends using barge cement. It is a flexible and waterproof type of marine adhesive.

I was this-close to ask about this to the customer service, but then I’ve found that Keen ALREADY CLARIFIED the differences between Targhee II and III right here…

Wait why didn’t any of us come across this before?

Well, because, as strange as it sounds… this information is only available in their DK and GB sites. And NOT in the US site. Yeah. No idea why…

I still wanted to read more about Targhee II and III – and hence contacted the customer service…

…But I ended up receiving no response whatsoever. I told myself maybe that’s because of the holiday period and shrugged it off, so I’m not pissed off at them.

Women’s Targhee II Waterproof.

Let’s start with laying out all the Targhee II and III models here with some short notes first.

Note that the notes are my subjective ideas and your mileage may vary.

Shoes:

• Targhee II Waterproof : Your best bet for commuting and casual purposes. Fits very well and decent supporting offers highest comfort among other Targhee’s. It’s also probably the prettiest of all. Women’s Magnet/Periwinkle color and Men’s Gargoyle/Midnight Navy color are especially loved by many – including me. The downside is that it’s less water resistant .
• Targhee III Waterproof : A more stable and water resistant upgrade to the Targhee II above. It’s still pretty comfortable, although not as much as the Targhee II.

The KEEN Mens Targhee III Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots are another top seller. I would put them in the mid range for an entry level hiking boots. They are priced in and around $150 so affordable and accessible for many.

A reasonable light weight mid hiker, the Keen Targhee are good for day hiking 2 to 3 seasons of the year, will work well for day-to-day use too.

Build Quality And Durability

Everything about the Keen Targhee III feels well-built, especially considering the relatively low price point. The leather uppers are showing some scratches from rocks and branches, but they have held up well overall. The same goes for the midsoles and outsoles: both feel sturdy and we expect them to last for multiple seasons of day hiking.
