Paint Your Custom Nike Air Force 1
Once your sneakers are all clean and prepared, you can get started with the paint! I used an Angelus Paint brush set to apply the paint. You can find an overview of all the colors of paint I used at the bottom of this post. When painting, make sure you apply thin layers. Its better to apply multiple thin layers than one thick layer, it will make your end result look that much better!
I applied Violet paint to the side of the shoe and applied the color South Beach to the top of the nose. The South Beach looked good after two or three layers, but the Violet needed 4 or 5 layers of paint. So be patient when making your Custom Nike Air Force 1s
To the Nike Swoosh I applied Angelus Yellow leather paint. This one also already started looking great after just 2 layers.
Around the nose of the shoe I applied Angelus Black leather paint. You need to be careful with the black though, you dont want to mess it up! I used the smallest brush to work around the edges.

Kino Hernandez and one of his close friends went into business together last year customizing sneakers and selling them online. A few weeks into the operation, his friend bailed but Hernandez decided to forge ahead. “It was about three months in and that’s when I started to get orders and I’m not talking about local orders,” the Salem County, New Jersey, resident said. “I was getting my orders from like California and Las Vegas.”
Adding colors and designs to shoes in recent months has netted Hernandez about $10,000 in income, he estimates. For Hernandez, the shoe-customizing business lets him generate income while working part-time as well as allowing him to flex his talents as an artist an ideal work-life balance, he said. But a lawsuit from Nike threatens that livelihood, not just for Hernandez but for countless other footwear customizers.
The suit, filed last month in California, accuses Drip Creationz one of the largest shoe customizing companies in the world of deconstructing Nike shoes, adding new material to them and reselling them for much more than regular retail price. That violates trademark and copyright laws, Nike lawyers said.
“Our goal is to help ensure consumers are able to buy our products that are both authentic and authorized by us and there is no confusion for consumers,” Nike said in an email to CBS MoneyWatch. “None of the items sold by Drip Creationz are authorized Nike Inc. products.”

The new system, called The Nike Makers Experience, is currently available by invite-only at the company’s Nike By You studio in New York. Customers put on blank Nike Presto X shoes and choose their own graphics and colors to design them.
The system then uses augmented reality , object tracking, and projection systems to display the chosen design on the shoes. After that, the design is printed on the sneakers, making them available to the customer in approximately 90 minutes.
