Are Golden Goose Worth The Splurge
Ahhh Golden Goose Sneakers. Theyre one of the most highly-debated items when it comes to fashion, and especially shoes. Whats funny about them is they are obviously designer, but other designer items dont get quite as many opinions. I think it has to do with the fact that they are sneakers, and on top of that, most of their designs are worn in or scuffed up making the thought of spending 4, 5, 6 hundred dollars on them hard to justify for some. Which I get! Believe me.
I actually wasnt always the biggest fan of them, or at least wasnt sure I needed them in my own closet. It took me quite some time to warm up to them because I thought they might be too trendy. They also seemed very loud and out there, style-wise, that I just didnt feel would help justify the price since I tend to stick with neutral colors. But, they do have some neutral options, which I later discovered and thats when things started to shift.

About a year ago, I put a pair of golden goose sneakers on my wishlist, but felt like I could never justify a pair of sneakers that cost anywhere between $400 and $500 But, I loved how they looked and how they could go with so many different outfits. So, after crushing hard on them for almost a year, I decided to pull the trigger. I ordered my pair online and decided if I didnt absolutely LOVE them then I would return. Clearly, I fell in love! First, Ill tell yall why golden goose sneakers have been worth the money . I love that these are shoes you can wear year round, no matter how hot or cold it is, and no matter where you live. I have worn these shoes in both summer and winter now and love them for BOTH. Pros To Golden Goose Sneakers
- Limited quantities of each style. Why do I consider this a pro? The brand releases new styles each month and they go real quick! When I am paying this much for anything, I dont want to the exact color/style on 10 of my friends. Each pair feels unique and special, almost limited edition.
- Already dirty. This baffles Jeff, like why am I paying for dirty looking shoes? As a kid, my mom would buy me bright white Keds and I would immediately go in the dirt to get them dirty or take a pen and draw on them. This made her so mad, clearly. Ive never liked the look of bright white shoes, now I just pay a lot of money for this look. Haha. I mean your shoes are always going to get dirty eventually, Golden Goose just speeds up the process.
- Comfortable! I get this question a lot. Yes, they are super comfortable!
- No shoe is identical. This goes back to what I was saying on limited quantities. Each pair is handmade and hand distressed. One of a kind, pretty cool right?
- Cost per wear. The number question asked is are they worth the money?. I cant answer that for you. Totally a personal choice. However, look at all the shoes in your closet. Do you wear them a lot? I went through mine and found several pair of sneakers Ive spent $80-$150 on that I wore maybe 3 or 4 times. Yet, I wear my all of my GGDB sneakers ALL THE TIME! Like I said, cost per wear!

Does The Distressing Bother You
It does not, in fact, I prefer it! I know people that dont like the sneaker joke you spend hundreds on dirty shoes- it reminds me of a sweet dad joke that would say, You paid what for jeans with holes in them?! when youd walk out of Abercrombie & Fitch back in the day. Each scuff is handmade, so the moment you slip the sneaker on its like putting on your favorite pair of jeans that fit just right. Because they are distressed a bit, they also dont require you to break them in. Ive actually never had a blister from a pair of GG sneakers, and while I cant speak for everyone, the general consensus on forums is that the distressing helps them already be broken in.
Im pretty Type A and wash my kids sneakers 24/7 because scuffs on them bother me. But with these being made to be distressed, well, its like trying to mend distressed denim. There is no need!
Are Golden Goose Worth It
I know I dont have to preface this but it will be relative. Epidurals arent worth it to some women and to some they are the only way theyd give birth. If you usually budget around $100-$120 on a pair of stylish sneakers, and you wear sneakers at least 3 to 4 times a week, they are worth it in my opinion. Okay, big price jump, Katey. Hear me out. Its your cost per wear combined with longevity. If you are a work-from-home gal or a mom at home and you find yourself only slipping on sneakers and the occasional flat for being out and about, these will last you such a long time. Ive bought $120 sneakers here or there since then, but I find myself repeatedly slipping on my Golden Goose. I probably wear my GG 300 days a year, so instead of buying random $70 flats repeatedly, I wear these. In the past 3 years Ive bought less shoes total, than I normally would. So for me, a mama that lives in sneakers, these are completely worth it. Id rather wear a pricier sneaker 300 days a year, than a $60 flat that I wear 5 times a year. Plus, you can grab them on sale.

Are They Worth It
It probably sounds crazy to spend $400+ on a pair of sneakers, but Im all about cost per wear. That said, the Golden Goose Superstar sneakers are worth every penny in my opinion. Ive had mine for years and theyve all held up incredibly well even though Ive worn them a ton. If you foresee yourself wearing them a few times a week, theyre definitely worth buying. I think its also important to note that these sneakers are hand made with high-quality Italian leather, which also justifies the higher price point. With athleisure and comfort dressing being here to stay, you really cant go wrong with high-quality, designer sneakers that will elevate your look.
