I get a lot of shoe-related PMs and I see all the new comments/questions on the sidebar shoe guide and, far and away, one of the most common questions is about big feet. I thought I’d put together some of my regular recommendations into one post so it’s in the archives for future reference.
But before the list of shoes, let me say this – if you have skis, just own them. Your feet are your feet, and you’re only hurting yourself by trying to squeeze them into smaller sizes or wearing loose, bootcut jeans to hide them. Don’t be embarrassed – I’m not sure anyone has ever seriously judged someone for having big feet. If anything, there’s a wink and a nudge and a “y’know what they say about guys with big feet, don’t you?“
Still, finding good-looking shoes in sizes larger than 13 can be a pain in the ass. Dress shoes are pretty simple as long as you’re willing to pay for it , but inexpensive casual shoes are real trouble. There are two main resources I send people to – Oddball, which specializes in large footwear and Zappos, which has a massive inventory of large shoes and an easy-to-use size filter.
