Oboz Juniper Low Hiking Shoes

REI OBOZ hiking boot review – best hikers 2019

Features Of These Oboz Hiking Shoes

  • O-Fit insole

Another pair of Oboz hiking boots for women, but these are ideal for colder weather.

The high top keeps your lower leg free from debris, rain and helps you stay warmer for longer. The winterized rubber performs well in cold conditions like snow. However, these are not ice boots and will not keep you warm in extreme sub-temperatures. You still benefit from superior underfoot protection and a comfortable gender-specific fit, all in a warm winter boot. In addition, they offer you some helpful details like a ridge on the heel for snow straps and an all-around rubber bumper to keep mud and slush on the ground.

  • Womens specific fit with an asymmetric collar.
  • Bright webbing eyelets

The fit of these Oboz hiking boots is narrower in the heel and wider in the toe, which suits the proportions of a womans foot. You benefit from enhanced underfoot protection with TPU chassis and the ESS plate in the forefoot.

These Oboz shoes perform excellently uphill and down on city streets and trails. They are supportive and come in brighter color options than the average hiking boots not neon bright but beautiful dark berry and coffee shades with colorful accents on the webbing eyelets and midsole.

How To Measure Oboz Shoes

Although some of the shoes go a bit on the narrow side, they are largely tailored. Use Brannock to assess the length and width of your foot and to evaluate the foot volume and height of your arch you should have an experienced booting fitter. All of these data will influence fitness and help to evaluate which boots are fit for you.

Can You Wash Keen Shoes

KEEN sandals are machine washable on a gentle cycle within cold water and a mild detergent. Use nubuck leather cleaner and conditioner for leather. Wool must not be machine washed but brushed with a spot removing foam. Canvas should be hand cleaned with a sponge. Insoles should also be hand cleaned. Tea tree oil can be used to treat odors.

Oboz Hiking Boots Reviews

OBOZ Women

Upper| Water-resistance| Breathability| Insole| Midsole| Outsole| Specs| Key Feature| Pros and Cons

You see, this boot is so great that both the mens and womens versions are even from qualitys side. Their only difference is in the size and physical measurements given that mens and womens feet are not the same.

So we thought that instead of saying the same things like its durability, versatility, water resistance, comfortability, breathable membranes, super coot sole, and many more, what if we just compile them into one place. That way, you will save a lot of your precious time.

Thats enough! I think I am just talking a lot of other things out of excitement while I should be telling about how great my experiments with these boots were. So shall we start?

Where To Buy Oboz Sawtooth Mid Waterproof

We tested the mens Oboz Sawtooth Mid Waterproof hiking boots. There is a womens version, which is the same material construction with a different fit. Theres also a version of this boot without the waterproofing, which we recommend for hikers who have exceptionally sweaty feet, or dont tend to hike in wet climates.

The Sawtooth line is also offered in a Low, which is very similar to the Mid without the ankle support. The Low is offered for Men and Women, with and without waterproofing. If you dont need the ankle support of the Mid, we recommend the Low, as its a solid hiking shoe.

BEST Waterproof Hiking boot – Oboz vs Salomons

What I really love about this shoe is its versatility. Whether its day hiking, biking, hanging around at camp, running errands around town, trail running, or even backpacking, this shoe is truly multi-purpose. Ive worn them everyday for the last 90 days and have relied on them for a majority of my trail excursions. My first test on the trail was when I wore them hiking to the top of Frary Peak on Antelope Island which is 7 miles and has over 2,000 feet of elevation gain.

How To Measure Keen Shoes

They are relaxed enough to stroll easily and are usually perfect travel shoes. Beach sand is one field theyre not good at. It is once where it can be damaging to be waterproof. Theyre sizeable. Firstly, theyre snug, but they adapt to your feet very easily. You first measure your foot in centimeters. Keen has a map to help you decide your size. Is Oboz A Good Brand

One thing Oboz has on KEEN is durability. The toe is tough and the lugs have an intense tread system. They are waterproof yet breathable. They are, however, a little on the heavy side and are somewhat lacking in ankle support. They are great hiking boots for the serious hiker but a little much for the urban enthusiast.

Gear Review: Oboz Sawtooth Ii Low Waterproof Hiking Shoes

Oboz Men

Oboz Sawtooth II Low Waterproof$140, 2 lbs. 4 oz. Sizes: mens 8-14, womens 6-11backcountry.com

All through the second day of afive-day trek in northern Spains Picos de Europa Mountains, we hiked throughsteady rain and, higher up, wet snow that accumulated several inches deep onthe ground. It felt more like Scotlands Northern Highlands than mountains inthe north of Spain. Throughout that day and the entire trip, these shoes mostlydelivered the kind of support and performance I expect from much pricierbootsbut did have a couple of minor shortcomings.

Support and stability are better than manylow-cut shoes: I carried 25 pounds or more for several hours of hiking a day ina variety of terrain through the rugged Picos, from trails of packed dirt orloose scree to steep scrambling and slogging through wet snow, all without acomplaint from my feet. A dual-density EVA midsole combines plenty ofcushion with the solid torsional rigidity delivered by a nylon shank. Asa bonus, all Oboz footwear come with the brands O Fit insole, whichoffers far more support and cushion than standard, flimsy insoles in mosthiking shoes and backpacking boots.

The Best Choice For Flat Feet

KEEN has more selections available when it comes to our flat-footed friends out there. If youre looking for one that you cant beat, it would be the KEEN Durrand 2 Mid boot, which boasts stability and comfort.

Oboz has one of the best hiking boots available for those of you with flat feet. The Oboz Bridger Hiking Boot comes highly recommended and is known for its advanced insole design to deliver the utmost comfort level.

Hiking Shoe Upper Materials

Hiking shoe upper material is not the most exciting topic, but checking the construction can give helpful insights into its performance. The type of material used will correlate directly with a shoe’s durability, water-resistance, and ability to breathe. Most often, hiking and trail shoes are made with a mix of nylon, mesh, and leather to balance cost and longevity. Below, we spell out the pros and cons for the most common materials used for hiking footwear.Synthetic Nylon and MeshWoven synthetic as well as open synthetic mesh panels are commonly used to aid breathability. These materials are not as well known for their durability, but they do a great job of cutting weight. Exceptions include the Salomon X Ultra 3, which is made of tightly woven synthetic upper that has comparable levels of durability to some Nubuck leathers.

Nubuck LeatherMade of full grain leather, but given a brushed finish that has a suede-like feel, Nubuck leather is a common sight on heavier duty hiking shoes. The softer touch leather is lighter and more flexible than traditional, glossy full-leather options, and is more durable than most nylons. It does fall short in breathability, however. As a result, its common to find a mix of leather and nylon mesh for abrasion resistance and breathability, including the Merrell Moab and Oboz Sawtooth.

Where To Buy The Oboz Sypes

Right now, the Oboz Sypes are available exclusively at REI. They come in both mens and womens and a low or mid version in a variety of colors. I chose the mid-ankle model in the color Slate because of the red laces. Id probably pick the camel color next time since the slate pretty much looks brown anyways once its covered in dirt.

Here are the womens Sypes colors and options.

Whats Most Important To You In A Hiking Shoe

Oboz Men’s Bridger Mid BDry Hiking Boot

COMFORT AND FIT – Fit is very personal, so what works for some people may not be the best option for others. In general the most comfortable shoes give your toes some room to spread, have cushioning that supports your foot shape, and have some flex in the upper so it moves with your foot.

The Saucony Peregrine hiking shoes dont require any break in

PRICE – We tend to be willing to spend a bit more for quality footwear because we truly believe the success of our adventures depends on having happy, healthy feet. Comfort and fit usually trump cost in our books, but we recommend quality options at a variety of price points in our top picks below.

The Keen Targhee III Low WP are supportive, have great traction, and feature a generously wide toe box

WEIGHT Weight on your feet zaps about 5 times more energy than weight carried on your back. Lighter shoes mean less muscle fatigue, less stumbling, and they can help avoid knee and hip flexor problems. Thats not to say that heavier shoes are bad though. If you do a lot of hiking off-trail or you tend to carry a heavier pack, you may be more confident in a more burly and durable shoe.

Oboz Arete Mid Vs Low

The Oboz Arete comes in both a mid and a low version. Which one is best really comes down to the terrain, the load you are carrying, and personal preference.

While we havent tried the high-top version of the Arete ourselves, it seems like theyve found the right balance of lightweight and breathable bolstered with ankle support, which provides more stability if you are carrying a heavy pack or hiking on uneven terrain.

Oboz Firebrand Ii Low Leather Hiking Shoe

  • Dont need to be broken in.

Cons

  • They run towards smaller sizes, so if youre ordering these, make sure to add a half to your size.

Get this. Like, seriously, if youre looking for a pair of Oboz boots, you wont find a better choice than this. The Mens Firebrand II Low is as perfect for hiking as they are for workplaces and dont even suffocate your feet as some Oboz boots do.

The pair I owned was an excellent set of rugged boots that performed well on the trail. These boots are comfortable, ventilated, and provide great support.

Like the Bridger Mid B-Dry Hiking Boot, you wont feel sharp rocks with this pair, and you also get a wider toe box to let your toes breathe.
