The overwater bungalows do get some boat traffic from the nearby Rodney Bay Marina, plus some hotel guests may be kayaking in the area. The resort has security on jetskis that help deter water traffic from too close to the overwater bungalows
If you get car sick easily we suggest taking the ferry or helicopter to the resort. There is a water ferry from the St. Lucia airport to Sandals Grande for $125 or for the ultimate arrival you can take a helicopter to Sandals Grande!

Overwater bungalows are very popular, especially in the Pacific Ocean, near Asia, and Polynesia. But theyve started to make their way to the Atlantic Ocean as well. Now you can find pretty overwater bungalows near the USA and in the Caribbean. One of our favorites is at Sandals All-Inclusive Resort.
Unlike the far-off bungalows, the overwater bungalows in Jamaica are just 1.5 hours flying from Miami and 2-3 hours from many USA airports. They are just a hop, skip, and jump away!
If youve never stayed at an all-inclusive, heres what you should know. Your nightly rate is usually per person, and that is what it is like at Sandals as well. In your nightly rate, everything is included. Yes, everything.
While you are on the resort, you wont have to pay for a single thing. That includes all food, room service, top-shelf liquor, activities on the resort, and if you have a room level with a butler, their services as well. Sandals Grande St Lucian Resort Saint Lucia
While the other two resorts have lovely locations, the Sandals in St. Lucia is on one of the most beautiful coves in the Caribbean and I dont believe Ive ever seen a better beach-resort location. The island of St. Lucia is arguably the most scenic of all of the Caribbean islands, although the famous twin peaks of the Pitons are a long way from the resort.
Generally speaking, St. Lucia is a more pleasant island than Jamaica, and it has that faraway vacation feel that is more dramatic than even at Sandals South Coast. If I had plenty of time to get here and at least 4 or 5 nights to stay, Id choose Sandals St. Lucian for my overwater bungalow holiday.
The disadvantages are the longer flight time , not to mention more expensive flights. On the other hand, St. Lucia is almost two hours closer to most European airports, so this place is a good alternative to the Maldives and MUCH closer than Bora Bora.
Overwater bungalows location
The overwater bungalows are along the southern edge of the St. Lucian resort. Unlike the other two resorts where the overwater bungalows are out over a lagoon, the 9 water villas are simply out off of a peninsula at this resort. You arent properly out over the water until you are inside the bungalow itself.

Sandals South Coast Jamaica
A luxurious all inclusive couples only resort in Whitehouse, Jamaica, Sandals South Coast is known for its overwater chapel and bar, Latitudes. The over-the-water villas at Sandals South Coast are accessible via a heart-shaped pier.

We have stayed in all three properties, and the overwater bungalows are almost identical inside as far as furnishing from the art on the wall to the chairs. You can expect the following features in all overwater bungalows at Sandals.
- Glass floor at the foot of the bed make sure to find the light switch in your room so you can watch the fish swim by at night
- Outdoor Tranquility soaking tub
- Outdoor table & chairs we suggest asking your butler to set up breakfast or lunch here
- Stocked mini-bar with high-end liquor Full bottles of Hendriks, Wine, etc. if you like specific alcohol make sure to ask your butler they will have it in your room.
- Sandals tote and towel set for you to keep and bring home. I love these towels, they are huge so make sure to save room in your luggage.

Sandals South Coast Whitehouse Jamaica
Sandals has a number of Jamaican properties, but the only other one with overwater bungalow selections is Sandals South Coast, which also happens to be one of the newest of the brands resorts. The overwater villas here were built in the formation of a heart, which adds to their romance factor. They have the same overall layout as the above-mentioned property just a different locale.
Like other Sandals properties, this resort is also adults-only and all-inclusive including as many activities as you would like to do. Butler service is included. Just let them know if youd like your luggage unpacked or your clothes ironed upon arrival. Everything at this five-star resort is luxe. Even the minibar is stocked with premium booze. One of the only things not included are treatments at the signature Red Lane Spa but these are worth paying extra for.

Coconuts Beach Club Resort And Spa

Located in the culturally rich but much lesser-traveled South Pacific destination of Samoa, Coconuts Beach Club Resort and Spa is located on Upolu’s southern coast where you’ll experience incredible sunrises and sunsets.
The intimate resort offers only overwater fales with six indoor-outdoor accommodations boasting spectacular views of the beaches, lagoon, and ocean. Each has a large sun deck, expansive bedroom with a King bed, and a high traditional Samoan ceiling. Private decks can be closed off with sliding glass doors for privacy and the use of AC. Open-air bathrooms have sunken tubs and waterfall showers. There are no phones or TVs, just total peace.
