How Do I Pick The Best Volleyball Shoes
Image taken by: chooserly.com
Theres no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best volleyball shoes for you will depend on a number of factors, including your foot type, playing style, and personal preferences. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for volleyball shoes that can help you find the perfect pair. First, look for shoes that offer good support and cushioning to protect your feet from the impact of jumping and landing. Second, choose shoes with a good grip to help you stay stable on the court. Lastly, consider your budget and make sure to try on several pairs of shoes to find the perfect fit.
The ASICS Volley Elite FF volleyball shoes are significantly lighter than those on the market. They are made of an open mesh material and are reinforced with synthetic overlay in order to provide long-lasting durability. The inside of the volleyball shoes is padded to protect the heels during jumping. On ASICS.com, you can expect to pay $140.00 USD for a ASICS card. The Volley Elite FFs are a popular choice among volleyball shoes for 2019. They are a reasonable option in this price range, but the quality does not mask the fact that they are unquestionably more expensive. Booster Technology, a feature found in the Crazyflight X volleyball shoes, is also available.
How Do Volleyball Shoes Differ From Regular Athletic Shoes
Volleyball shoes are very similar in looks to regular athletic shoes and cross-trainers, and if you are not a pro, it may be hard to pinpoint the differences. We have alsao written a complete guide about the best mens volleyball shoes.
Here are a few pointers to help you identify the differences easily:
Best Back Court Budget Volleyball Shoes
This shoe may as well share the title of best budget shoe with the Dame 7s, but its an extremely different shoe.
The Giannis Immortality is known for being ultra lightweight. Its by far the lightest shoe on this list.
What this means is extreme responsiveness making this particularly good for liberos who like to feel low to the ground and need to make lots of micro adjustments when passing.
The cushioning system in this shoe is pretty average unfortunately, making it not the best idea for front court players doing tons of jumping.
Having said that, setters who play mostly from the back court will also find this shoe exceptional as theyre going to prefer being lighter on their feet and require less impact protection.
These retail for considerably less than $100 making them a really affordable option!
These shoes fit a little on the snug side, so if youve got wide feet, consider going up half a size.
This is a great, budget shoe for setters and liberos who like a super responsive, low to the ground feeling shoe.

What Shoes Do The Us Womens Volleyball Team Wear
Image taken by: ssl-images-amazon.com
The U.S. womens volleyball team wears Nike shoes. The team has a contract with Nike, and they have been wearing Nike shoes since 2006.
Adidas has been designated as the official shoe of all National Team USA Volleyball. AdidasCrazy Flight volleyball shoe is a lightweight, flexible shoe with 360 degree ventilation that is ideal for women. Its easy to put up with the shakes as long as youre using support, flexibility, and cooling comfort. The Crazy Flight Team Shoe has a non-marking gum rubber outsole, a non-marking lacing system, and an adjustment system for optimal comfort. Most Iconic Mens Volleyball Shoes
The Gel-Rocket is an iconic general purpose court shoe which became pretty popular for volleyball many moons ago.
This is another shoe which does a reasonable job across the board.
Its also the best shoe for outdoor volleyball, in my opinion, so if you play on concrete, Id definitely go for the Gel-Rocket 10.
Traction is solid and its remarkably supportive for a very low top, low to the ground feeling shoe.
I recommend these mostly for liberos and setters who require very high responsiveness.
The one downside of this shoe is cushioning.
It wasnt designed with a high volume of jumping in mind, which makes it not one of the greatest options for hitters.
If youre an opposite or middle blocker and are dead set on going with Asics, pick the Sky Elite FF as the cushioning is far superior.
- Liberos and setters. This shoe is also not a bad option for outside hitters who play occasionally.
- Outdoor volleyball players. This is my number one recommendation for those who play on concrete/hybrid floors.
Not Ideal For
- Frequent flyers. If youre jumping a lot, the cushioning on this shoe really isnt optimal.

How Differ From Other Shoes Are Volleyball Shoes
Players in volleyball constantly move laterally and vertically. The three sections of a shoethe rubber sole, the midsole, and the upper wrapping sectionneed to be taken into account in order to design the best shoe for this. Excellent grip, lateral stability, and protective cushioning are essential components of a good volleyball shoe.
The Rubber Sole: In order to jump and change directions, volleyball players need to have excellent court traction. Tennis and squash require non-marking soles, and volleyball requires them as well so that it doesnt mark the indoor courts.
Mid-sole: The midsole of a shoe stabilizes the ball of the foot. For the quick movements and jumps that volleyball players are known for, a good mid-sole is essential. Typically, this consists of a variety of components, such as gel, foam, and air cushions. For the best support, a good mid-sole must be both flexible and strong.
Upper wrapping: To reduce moisture and keep the foot cool in this situation, you want the material to be light and breathable.
Nike Mens Hypervenom Phelon Ii Tf Football Cleat
This shoe offers great traction on both grass and artificial surfaces thanks to its lightweight TPU outsole plate with herringbone tread pattern that provides excellent grip on dry surfaces like grass, concrete or indoor floors. It also features a Flywire upper lacing system for added support during games as well as a cushioned sockliner for added comfort throughout the game so that you dont get fatigued too easily during
These shoes were designed with the sand, clay and indoor courts in mind. They are lightweight and flexible, making them easy to sprint and jump around. There are also many colors to choose from. The Asics Gel Respector is one of the most popular shoes for volleyball players today.
The Asics Gel Respector is a very popular shoe for grass volleyball because its lightweight and flexible, making it easy to run around the court and jump around. This shoe also comes in many different colors.
The Mizuno Wave Sayonara is another great option for grass volleyball players because it provides traction on any type of surface, including clay courts and indoor courts. It has a wider fit and comes in both womens and mens sizes. This shoe also has an outsole that provides excellent traction, which makes it great if you play on outdoor courts as well as indoor courts or hardwood floors.
As the weather warms up, its time to start thinking about playing some volleyball! If youre looking for the best shoes for grass volleyball, weve got them right here.
Do Different Volleyball Positions Require Different Shoes
Its critical to have a pair of volleyball shoes that match your position and playing style because each position on the court brings a unique set of skills. You might be a defensive player who must dive low but also be able to jump high and block, an attacker with quick jumping, strength, and power, or a libero who is flexible and agile.
Defense, setting, and deep-digging liberos all call for sturdy footwear made for defensive players. If you play in the back row, your ability to react quickly and your knowledge must be supported by a performance that enables quick direction changes and stability even when stretched to the limit.
These shoes need:
A high-grip outsole for fast changes
A low profile for speed and comforrt
Shock absorption for landings and take offs
Attacking Position Shoes:
When in the front row your shoes need:
Great cushioning for jumping and landing
Lightweight material to help you jump higher
Excellent fit for stability
Excellent traction allows for quick, slip-free movements and agility.

Best Mens Budget Basketball Shoe For Volleyball
Im a big proponent of basketball shoes for volleyball because theyre very similar in design and certain basketball shoes check all the boxes for certain volleyball players.
The Dame 7s are a really solid, budget option for those who liked the Lebron 18s but decided they were far too expensive.
For about half the price, you can get a really quite decent cushioning setup. No, not as good as the Lebrons, but far better than the majority of volleyball shoes.
This should be music to the ears of opposites and middles.
The Dame 7s also are quite a high standing shoe so perhaps not ideal for back court players.
They are excellent for outdoor courts, fit perfectly on wide feet, and cost less than $100!
- Middles and opposites on a budget. The cushioning setup in these feels really nice which makes them great for big men. And theyre really affordable too!
Not Ideal For
- Most other positions. This isnt a shoe Id wear as a libero and I feel like theres better options for setters. Outsides could certainly wear these.
Features Of A Great Volleyball Shoe
The shoe at the extreme right-end of that spectrum is only hypothetical. It does not exist, and if it did, it would be different for everyone. Every player needs to be looking for the following factors, but might prioritize them differently. The following order is what I believe to be the most logically important order. There are cases where these features should definitely be reordered, and they will be noted . The most important aspects of a volleyball shoe are:
- Traction- Bad traction leads to inefficient movement and high injury risk.
- Lockdown If the foot is not secure in the shoe, the shoe isnt helping.
- Cushion Volleyball puts a lot of strain on joints. A balanced cushioning system is important for comfort and injury prevention.
- Stability If the shoe rolls, so does the ankle.
- Torsional Support
- Court Feel This is based on preference, but is still important. The lower the foot sits in the shoe, the easier it is to feel the court. This affects posture as well.
- Fit A poor fit is uncomfortable at best, and harmful at worst.
- Materials- Good materials feel better for longer.
- Weight Heavy shoes can make a player feel sluggish.
- Price Is the shoe worth the money?
- Style Purely preference. Team colors, neutral, or flashy.

What Are The Most Comfortable Volleyball Shoes
Having worn the Asics Sky Elite FF shoes, I would submit these as the most comfortable volleyball shoe because of how well she shoe locks the heel down.
Of my list, the Nike Hyperaces are also said to be extremely comfortable because of the very thick padding around the ankle, yet highly flexible upper.
Having worn the Dame 7s I can also say they feel incredible, especially for someone with such wide feet.

The responsive EVA midsole provides good cushioning to protect your feet and joints when jumping and running. Like all high-performance volleyball shoes, they also have non-marking rubber soles to offer excellent traction for quick movements on the court.
The synthetic mesh upper moves with your foot, so you get a good range of motion in addition to a very secure fit. They come in womens sizes 6 to 11, and some wearers suggest going up a size as the shoes seem to run small.

Great Volleyball Shoes For Setters & Outside Hitters
The setter position is one which requires a unique blend of responsiveness, lateral support, and cushioning/impact protection.
Youll also probably want to feel lower to the ground as a setter, which rules out a bunch of my earlier recommendations.
Outside hitters have pretty much the exact same requirements the way I see it, and the Li-Ning All City 9s or 10s check all of these boxes.
Theyre nice and low, extremely responsive with incredible traction, and also have a really solid cushioning system, making them great for passing, hitting, and all of the movements setters perform, front court and back court.
These shoes also have a reputation for being some of the most comfortable shoes on the market they even look like youre walking on clouds when wearing them!
The All City 9s are very similar to the All City 10s, so go for whichever tickles your fancy. They have some amazingly vibrant unisex colorways which makes these great for both men and women.
These shoes have the wide feet check of approval!
Note: Li-Nings official store is on Amazon, however you can find other retailers with a simple Google search. Stock and colorways may be extremely limited outside of the Amazon store.

Mizuno Womens Wave Momentum 2
We advise middle blockers or opposites to use Wave momentum 2 as they will offer excellent ankle support.
The price of Mizuno Wave Momentum 2 is something that we cannot help but notice. Everyone seeks an advantageous price to quality ratio. Although this particular model is not the most affordable on the market, finding volleyball shoes that are right for you shouldnt be hampered by cost. Another sign of the quality of Mizuno Wave momentums is the length of time they have been available on the market.
Asics Womens Sky Elite Ff 2
Asics Sky Elite shoes have great traction and foot support, and some of the players we know wore them. For knee support and foot cushioning, Asics uses gel technology. Youll observe that Asics Sky Elites curved heel shape offers a better feel and offers more support for the ankle and heel. Better stability will be offered by DYNAWRAP technology, and your overall jumping experience will be improved by TWISTRUSS. The mid-top is the better option if you need better support, particularly for the ankles, even though our model is a low-top variation.
More than impressive, this distinctive addition to the Asics volleyball shoe lineup. High-quality mesh makes up the shoes upper portion. The mesh prevents suffocation, and the plush foam inserts snugly encircle the leg below the ankle.
This particular pair of Asics sneakers from the sports collection has laces that cross through holes that were specially shaped to allow the laces to be tightened around the foot. You can alter the tightness around the ankle by doing it this way. You have complete freedom to customize the fit of the sneakers to your exact liking!
