Over the last 8 months, Ive had the opportunity to put in a good number of miles in a few different Skechers running shoes and its time for a review of the various models, fit, feel and performance.
Weve seen Meb and Kara line up in Skechers, but have you ever wondered if theyre made for you and me?

Per my normal stance, I was skeptical. And once again I was proven wrong by finding a number of the models that worked well for me. Lets cruise through some to see how they compare and what might just be the ticket for you.

Several models of their shoes have High Performance Rubber Green outsoles that are made with sand instead of petroleum. The company says that it uses recycled materials to make other parts of their shoes whenever possible, including laces, fabrics, hangtags and packaging.
In 2014, the company partnered with Bluesign Technologies to evaluate, manage, and eliminate priority chemicals used in the process of manufacturing apparel. Manufacturers that become Bluesign system partners are required to establish management systems for improving resource productivity, consumer safety, water emissions, air emissions, and occupational health and safety.
Brooks is also a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, a global trade organization that works to reduce the environmental and social impact of apparel and footwear products. With the some collections, Brooks offers vegan products.
Built in 2014, the Brooks headquarters meet the environmental standards of Seattle’s Deep Green Pilot Program. Brooks is a no-nonsense running brand in my opinion: They know what they do well and stick to it. They have built a loyal following by releasing reliable trainers year after year.
I think back to a roommate in my college days who would buy the new version of Ghost when they were released every year.
The durable midsole provided a firm yet responsive ride. The GuideRail system cradled my feet as I ran in them giving me the right amount of stability when needed.
It was a reliable ride whether it was 2 miles or 12 miles. The midsole was built to last for hundreds of miles.
Although a great shoe, and one Ill continue to use, the shoe is not perfect. There are two main negatives that linger in my mind. The biggest issue for me was the 12mm drop.
This extreme drop almost made me feel like I was running on a slope. Anymore, the standard drop is 8-10mm, and I would like to see Brooks come to the modern world with that change.

The other main drawback for me was the break-in time. Most running shoes are ready to go straight out of the box, yet these took more than 30 miles to get a good feel for them.
An impatient runner may give up on them before they are ready. That would be a real shame, because once they are broken in, they are a dream in which to run.
The upper of the Adrenaline aided in providing stability. The heel counter is a strength of the upper. It was cushioned and held my feet in place.

The upper of the Adrenaline 21 largely remains the same as the previous edition. Last year they introduced a new engineered mesh which provided more structure.
The structure was balanced, it maintained its form while also being flexible. The mesh is breathable and double layered.
The Brooks Adrenaline upper is a wider upper than other offerings out there. There was no tightness throughout the upper. The heel counter was updated slightly with more cushioning added.
It has an ideal amount of cushioning which translated into a secure heel fit and added stability. The non connected tongue is well cushioned and added to the secure fit of the trainer.

Brooks uses 3D fit print to construct the upper of the Adrenaline. There are no overlays as a result. There were no points of irritation. The traditional lacing system allows you to tie once to get the perfect fit.
Skechers Gorun Razor + Review
One that was initially not my favorite was the Razor 3 because it was only Unisexbut not anymore!!! It was Runners WorldEditors Choice shoe in a March/April 2020, so I was supremely jealous the men were getting access to a shoe that I couldnt quite get to fit me size wise.
Celebration time!
They just released the womens Razor + and its great for those speed sessions and short races. I got a preview of it and have been playing with it over the last month.
While its described as cushioned, I would say if youve run in the other shoes I mention below or a standard cushioned shoe that could be misleading. It has more padding than many very low profile shoes, but its not a plush ride because thats not its purpose.
For speed you want a shoe thats really responsive, meaning it helps you explode off the ground and this has that.
So though Meb can crush 26.2 in a Razor, I think most of us who have gotten used to a little cushion will find this shoe is ideal for our speed workouts and possibly up to a half marathon.
