Starter List Of Shoes
Once youve determined your lifestyle and colors we can create a starter kit list of shoes that will work for you! A very easy thing to do if you are starting out is to choose one shoe from each category under Types of Shoes in one of your neutral colors. If you know you wont need or wear a shoe in one category, ignore that category. If you want to choose more than one from a particular category, go for it! If you want a couple of neutral shoes and a colored pair in the same category, thats fine too! Seeing shoe types and how they function differently in your life will at least give you a starting place, but mold and change the list to make it work for you.
For my lifestyle, my personal starter kit looks like this:
Sewing Pattern Pieces Together
You now need to sew all of your patterns together. If you aren’t familiar with sewing, check out these next few steps for help. There are two ways you can stitch your pieces together. Consult the photos. The First Way:Line your patterns up and pin them together so that the seam allowance guides you marked follow each other. This may be a little difficult.Sew within your seam allowance. It is important to sew in a straight, smooth fashion or your seam will look messy when you invert the fabric. The Second Way:Depending on your style, you may want to cut the seam allowance off *one* of the two patterns, simply overlapping it with the adjacent pattern so that its edge lines up with the seam allowance markings you drew earlier.Once lined up you can stitch your pattern without needing to invert the fabric later. I did this on the outside of my shoe, using the white string in my stitching to accent my black leather pieces .*Note: user Lukieh suggests that machine-sewing or saddle stitching would improve the durability of the shoe, wherever sewing is required. I wholeheartedly agree. The stitching in this instructable is done in haste primarily, so, without a sewing machine, I didn’t bother to saddle stitch.*

Footwear franchising is flexible and versatile for those that are willing to buy into the franchise opportunity. It is usually stiffer to give the shoe shape 3) Toe: The front of the shoe4) The… other part: This part is in between the front of the shoe and the vamp.* Note: This process could also be used to copy the pattern of a shoe you really like *
What Are Some Insider Tips For Jump Starting A Shoe Line
Most people find it easier to get started in a city that already puts a big emphasis on shoes. Even though the competition will be higher, there will also be more people to learn and grow from. Living in NYC, for example, will put you near not just fellow designers, but also innumerable production methods and fashion classes on how to design shoes.
Normally, designers already have an idea in mind of who they want to design for, but its worth noting the largest markets before getting started. The single most definable one is that of mens athletics shoes. They account for 20% of all sales. Womens casual follows at 17%, while womens dress shoes are at 13%.
Study the human foot, and how different types of feet react to pressure. Once you have a handle on the form and function, work on getting a patent to protect your ideas. While knock-off shoes are common, this can give you legal recourse if you decide to pursue action against a particular entity.
Finally, be careful about where you choose to produce your shoes. Shoe designers usually use manufacturers located in China, which used to provide an inexpensive way of getting the shoes to market. However, China has become a lot more competitive in recent years, with price rising and labor falling. It may still be a viable option, but you may also want to search outside of China for more opportunities.

Thereâs a lot to know about the steps necessary to turn an idea that may have started as nothing more than a sketch on a napkin into something that can be sold in stores. Companies like Converse, K-Swiss, Vans, Reebok, New Balance and Nike have all designated a part of their websites for create-your-own-shoes. Others, like Adidas have offered custom shoe design tools in the past, but have discontinued them after a while. Also, not all of the shoes displayed on these websites are available for customization. There are only limited models up for customization.
These top companies live up to their big names and good reputations. Their websites have great visual aesthetics and are all equipped with sophisticated and easy to use design applications. Naturally though, custom kicks from these brands are a little bit pricier. For options that are easier on the wallet, Solecreator provides affordable, unbranded selections.

Hire Employees For Your Technical And Manpower Needs
Creating modern shoes relies heavily on sub-contract factories for the different and many specialized operations. Even though the outsoles might be developed in-house by the shoe technicians, the tooling and parts might be purchased from a company that specializes in rubber pressing.
A shoe factory controls the different components and ensures that the uppers and the outsoles all fit together correctly. The first operations during shoe manufacturing are the cutting and marking operations. The following are some of the equipment that would be needed.
- Dryer Oven
- UV Light Tunnel
Basically as a shoe line designer, one might not need all the above listed equipment, and can successfully run the business from the privacy of your home. However, those who choose to go into a medium or large scale operation, and venture into the all part, not just designing, would need to get an office facility or a warehouse, to at least carry out some or all of the operations.
This also means that the number of employees needed to run the facility will be dependent on the owners intention, as more employees would be required to work in a large scale business as opposed to those that would work in a medium scale business, or even small scale shoe business.
The Service Delivery Process of the Business
The production process depends on what type of shoe line business, you are venturing into. A designer might not require any production process save designing.
