You Cant Keep Them For Long
There are several different theories about when to retire running shoes. Some are based on mileage, others are based on age. But the long and short of it is that if the cushioning in the shoes is shot, you should replace them because they wont actually protect your joints as you exercise . You can test this by putting one hand inside the shoe and pressing your other hand on the sole. If you cant feel your fingers on either side, you should be fine.
I did this test for my Nikes, and they were actually fine. Theres still plenty of cushion left. But I still have to get rid of these sneakers because they smell too bad and make me gag a bit when I put them on, despite the fact that they work just fine.

New Balance Minimus 40 Trainer
If a Vibram sole is on a shoe, I immediately think of the outdoors. So before I went to the gym, I brought the Minimus 40 to the local high school track. I ran the stairs, hit the turf football field for suicides and did some running on the surrounding grass. The grip did not disappoint on any surface.
What I also liked was its comfort when running. Right away I could tell New Balances running background influenced its construction they are cushioned , and you could easily knock out a few miles in them. If you incorporate running into your workout, you wont be let down.
When I got to the gym, I went total-body with some lifting and plyo. The sneakers are light, which helps get good elevation on box jumps, and I felt locked in and secure during heavier lifts . I was most impressed when I did a standing row, which targets the middle of your back. During the row, my feet often move when I lift heavier weight, but the outsoles traction helped keep them in place.

My first impression of the NoBull Trainer was a little underwhelming
Having never owned a pair of NoBulls before, but having heard great things about them and knowing their popularity in the Crossfit community I was excited to try them. Looks-wise they were pretty plain .
The same texture, pattern and colour all over, and the shoe felt overall quite heavy and rigid.
I struggled to see how the $129 price point was justified with this simple construction.

Nobull Training Shoes Construction And Materials
At this point Im beating a dead horse, but the NOBULL Trainers are some of the most durable shoes Ive ever worn. The outsole is constructed of carbon rubber, which can withstand rope climbs and outdoor elements.
The SuperFabric mesh lends itself to breathability without sacrificing durability. Theres a microsuede upper option, too, but Kate wasnt crazy about it. Regardless of which upper fabric you choose, the seamless one-piece construction remains constant, as does the suede tongue.
Here are a few other things myself and our product testers loved about the construction of the NOBULL trainers:
- The reinforced heel is ideal for staying strong during handstand push-ups
- Suede tongue eliminates rubbing and irritation on the top of the foot
- Anatomical sockliner molds to the shape of your foot after repeated use
- Medial rope grip provides extra protection against abrasion
- Reinforced sidewalls are also abrasion resistant
- Outsole lug pattern supports use in different outdoor elements, including mud and rain
- Very minimal midsole provides stability during highly dynamic exercises
At the end of the day, the NOBULL Trainer is a solid athletic shoe for CrossFit workouts.

How To Clean Nobull Shoes
To properly clean and wash your NOBULL shoes, despite the model that youre using, Id suggest doing the following three steps.
If you do these three steps, then you will make your shoes last much longer and add months to their lives. Far too often, I think lifters and athletes default to throwing their shoes in the washer and dryer or using harsh soaps on them.
Harsh soaps and waterlogging shoes in wash machines, then aggressively drying them in a dryer can deteriorate the different types of materials used in shoes. More specifically, the glues and polyurethanes used in midsoles and uppers are typically the first areas to run into durability issues when not cleaning shoes properly.
From my experience, too, NOBULL trainers specifically can be prone to having their midsoles change densities slightly when excessively waterlogged. That being said, spot cleaning as mentioned above will take longer, but your shoes will also last longer. Thus, making your investment last much longer.

One tester liked the Ripstop Runner for the times he had a run or workout on his schedule, but it wasnt his whole day. Unlike some running shoes, the sleek Ripstop transitioned inconspicuously from his workouts to casual weareven if that just meant looking stylish while checking off a to-do list or working long hours at a standing desk. The uppers perforated ripstop polyester repelled water well, dried quickly, and was both comfy and durable for a full day on his feet. However, the comfort for casual wear didnt translate as well to distance running. Testers noticed that the lacing bunched and the midfoot lockdown waned after several miles, and others also experienced chafing around the ankle collar. There was no rubbing on my toes during runs, though I did develop small blisters on the back of my Achilles from the limited padding, one tester said. These shoes were better for my strength training and riding the stationary bike.

Great Experience So Far
I cant understand all the negative reviews I have made 4 orders in the last month and all of the products have been top quality with ok despatch times. It was not so long ago that if you ordered anything from the US it would get stuck in customs and you would have to pay import fees but that is all taken care of now. The one mistake I made was ordering a pair of trainers in US 10.5 thinking it was UK 10.5 but luckily, due to a generous fit they are ok. Glad I did not have to return to the US as it would obviously be expensive. I have since learned that there is a UK website selling NO BULL WIT-Fitness. They look like the offical UK seller. They do not have the full range of stock but there is plenty to choose from. My wife and I are happy with everything we have ordered so far and continue to use the US NO BULL site for items not available on WIT in the UK. Great experience so far, great quality and looks good.

Dont Waste Your Money
Donât waste your money. I was excited about the brand, the shoes and the colour. I got the order with in time. Prior to ordering I checked and ordered a pair of womens size 7 which is a menâs 6. On receiving I found the shoe to be tight and noted that the box was marked womens 7 and mens 5.5. As I was paying in Canadian dollars I had already paid $169. I made contact over the chat feature and I was told that the return shipping has to be out of pocket. Now I am over $200 for a pair of shoe and they wonât honour the store credit or have any flexibility to accommodate. I guess if you are not a pro athlete you are SOL with no bull.

Why Are Nobull Shoes So Expensive
NOBULL shoes definitely tend to air on the more expensive side and I think this is due to two reasons. First, is NOBULLs branding and marketing. NOBULL does a really good job at cultivating a community through their marketing and usage of their NOBULL professional athletes.
Both of these, I think at least, influence the price of NOBULL shoes specifically, and make a majority of their gear a bit more expensive than other budget-friendly shoes on the market.
Second, NOBULL shoes are consistent and deliver consistent performance. This being said, I think once youve created certain products that have enough momentum behind them in regard to positive feedback from mass community usage, then you can leave price points alone. Thus, why I think the price of NOBULL shoes never really fluctuates.
