As Zoom Freak 1 launched, Antetokounmpo said, I wanted my shoe to basically introduce me and my family to the world. He explained that his parents names, Veronica and Charles, are written on the outer midsoles of the shoe. The names of his four brothers inscribe both soles heels. The Greek Freak said he designed, A shoe that could make a kid believe in his dream.
The iconic Nike swoosh is big and backward to represent Antetokounmpos freaky nature. He says, Its all about being freaky, and being different. The shoe has the color blue, to represent his hometown of Greece, and green to pay tribute to Nigeria, his country of origin.
Antetokounmpo has great respect for his father, and the way he grew up. This is why I Am My Fathers Legacy is written onto the traction pattern on the bottom of the shoe. An embossed rose memorializes his now-deceased father, who according to Antetokounmpo, always loved roses. He says he wanted the rose included so his father was with him in every step.
Giannis Antetokounmpo And His Nike Deal
Like most top-notch superstars, Nike has Giannis under a multi-million dollar deal. Even before he burst into stardom, Nike placed their trust in the Greek Freak, signing him for a $20,000 per year deal.
However, the deal was upgraded to around $10 million per year back in 2017. Giannis was also promised a signature shoe under Nike. The first Giannis signature shoe made its debut back in June 2019. After the success of the first shoe, Nike also released the Nike Air Zoom Freak 2 recently in July 2020.

Giannis Antetokounmpos Signature Shoes
The signature shoe design process tends to be long and involved. As Antetokounmpo himself pointed out, it took a full 18 months to settle on an overall concept for his shoe. While a lot of players focus solely on a shoes performance attributes, Antetokounmpo was equally concerned with designing a shoe that reflects his upbringing and family.
Antetokounmpo shared one surprising revelation in that, when he was growing up, he didnt always have shoes to wear. And he certainly was never privileged enough to buy a pair of new basketball shoes. Ive never been to the store, until this day, to buy a basketball shoe, he said in a video explaining the inspiration behind his shoe design.
Antetokounmpo chose to honor both his brothers and Greece through a special colorway known as All Bros. The colorway takes inspiration from colors favored by all of the Antetokounmpo brothers, while also referencing Antetokounmpos basketball camp and charity run that take place in Greece every summer.
But perhaps the most important shoe in his signature collection features a colorway known as Roses, which pays tribute to his father, Charles. The largely white shoe references the white roses that the family laid on Charles casket during his funeral. The shoes also feature the names of both Antetokounmpos father and mother. The shoes make clear how serious he is when he says that everything he does is for his family.

Available now at Nike.com is the Zoom Freak 3 in the stealthy black and purple Project 34 colorway. The sneaker was unveiled in June, which the brand confirmed the silhouette was designed to get the most from Antetokounmpos unique basketball skillset and amplify his impact on the court.
The shoe features a mesh-based upper thats combined with a hook-and-loop strap on the midfoot for containment while a silver reverse Swoosh branding appears by the ankle collar. The shoes standout design is the midsole, which is equipped with two responsive Zoom Air units under the balls of the feet to help absorb energy while an external piece of lightweight TPU is formed into the outer portion of the midsole providing foot stability during quick lateral movements.

While Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently wearing the second installment of his signature sneaker line during the 2021 NBA Playoffs, Nike is soon to release the third iteration of the line, dubbed the Zoom Freak 3, with two colourways slated for an August release in North America.
Nike Basketball today announced that the first two colourways – a black and purple “Project 34” colourway and an orange “Freak” colourway – will be the first to release.
Per Nike, “the Zoom Freak 3 is built for creating space through radical downhill angles. The shoe’s tech supports the dominant physicality that defines Giannis Antetokounmpo’s style of play and helps to progress his Euro step, which the power forward uses to warp the distance between his body and the basket.”
One of the sneaker’s most identifying features is the forefoot strap, which appears on Giannis’ sneaker for the first time. Consistent with prior Zoom Freak releases, the shoe features a large Nike Swoosh as well as a similar midsole and outsole configuration that aligns with the Swoosh.
Antetokounmpo’s signature “GA” logo, which can also be spotted in some of the halls of Fiserv Forum, is also prominently featured on the shoe’s tongue.
