Our Analysis And Test Results
Overall, the NOBULL was ranked third among the shoes we tested. It provided a good balance of qualities, with a bit more attention to comfort than the other shoes. The NOBULL model wins Top Pick for a Busy Lifestyle by being a high-performing shoe in the gym, with enough style and all-day comfort to get you through a casual Friday at work.
Nobull Trainer Outer Material
Possibly the most distinctive construction feature about the NOBULL Trainer is the SuperFabric® outer construction. NOBULL uses this material in all of their standard cross training shoes. SuperFabric is composed by taking normal fabric, then implementing tiny guard plates within that fabric. This type of material provides the outer construction with a lightweight and rigid material that is designed to be highly resistant to abrasions.
Compared to other cross trainers that have breaks in the materials used to enclose the outer construction, the NOBULL Trainer has the SuperFabric wrap the entirety of the shoe. This provides the shoe with a consistent feeling throughout and lack of variance in what to expect. The SuperFabric is breathable, durable, and decently waterproof.

Shoe Review: Nobull Matryx Golf Shoe
After regaining my Amateur status in 2017, I determined that comfort should be my priority so I switched to Nike. These were fantastic, although admittedly poor quality in my opinion. The heels would wear out unusually fast since I walked a few times a month, and I had to replace them once a year. Pity.

Nobull Trainers In Summary
The NOBULL Trainer from NOBULL shoes is a good-looking, versatile, and comfortable shoe.
Made with SuperFabric they are tough. They are also designed to accommodate the kind of workouts required by CrossFit.
They are also very light-weight they are almost 2 full ounces lighter than the Nike Metcon 5 or Reebok Nano 9.
Many people buy these for casual wear but they are still versatile training shoes for the WOD, so give these shoes a try for your next workout.
And, this is the only pair of CrossFit Training shoes available in a mid-top and high-top version as well for those that prefer it.
The Distance Running Trainer

Menâs
ATTN: TREADMILL RUNNERSâthese are the best option for you. At 6 ounces and sporting a mesh construction, theyre ideal for indoor running in controlled environments.
They feel great for outdoor running, but the light construction WILL cause these shoes to shred pretty easily. If youre an indoor running warrior, you will love how these shoes feel like youre wearing nothing at all.
You can throw a serious cardio party with these suckers, and for that alone the Minimus TRV1 wins our seal of approval. A lot people just like to run under fluorescents at the gym, and theres nothing wrong with that. Sure, this shoe seems like a one trick pony, but it does that trick very well, so we had to tell you about it.

Wearing Nobull Trainer Shoes For Crossfit
If you want a CrossFit shoe, these are spot-on. While theyre not our top pick for the overall best training shoe , the NOBULL Trainers are still one of the best options for cross-training.
As all CrossFitters know, durability is key in a good pair of shoes. Between burpees, rope climbs, handstand push-ups, and other movements, training shoes take quite the beating during CrossFit WODs. The seamless SuperFabric® upper on NOBULLs is probably the most durable construction Ive come across. Because its one-piece construction, it eliminates the possibility that your shoes start to come apart at the seams. Amanda has been wearing the same NOBULL Trainers for three years and , they still look, feel, and function like theyre brand new.
As for comfort, this is where things start to get controversial. NOBULL Trainers are flatlike, really flat. Most complaints are about the lack of arch support and shock absorption. If youre used to more cushioning, transitioning to NOBULL Trainers might be tough. However, Kate, who was initially wary of the shoes, says theyre shockingly comfortable once you get moving in them.
For box jumps and other high-impact movements, you might miss some of the shock absorption youve experienced while wearing Nanos or workout shoes designed for high-intensity interval training workouts. The high-top trainers add ankle stability if thats something youre looking for.
Cole Haan Grandpro Rally Sneaker

These are designed with a trio of the brands GrandFoam cushioning, GrandOS Energy Foam and an Ortholite footbed.

Nobull Shoes Minimal Drop For Stability
Training Shoe AnatomyAnatomy of a Training Shoe
CrossFit WODs involve a lot of weightlifting and heavy weights at that. If youve ever tried to do heavy lifts in running shoes you know thats a bad idea. Theres simply too much cushioning in the sole, heel, and midsole of a running shoe. The problem is that your feet are sinking into the thick cushioning and this wreaks havoc on stability. Its also an unacceptable loss of power in the quick lifts you cant get efficient power transfer on a mushy shoe sole.
But these problems are eliminated in the NOBULL Trainer. Its got a versatile, but stable outsole and midsole perfect for the variety of big weights youll have to lift.
Secondly, the heel to toe drop is a mere 4mm. This means there isnt much of a heel on the shoe. If youve ever lifted in purpose-built weight lifting shoes you know that sky-high heel is great for getting low on a squat or clean with ease. But you cant really do much else in weight lifting shoes that too tall heel make them unusable for running, jumping, and quite frankly anything except for lifting weights!
With a low profile 4mm heel to toe drop these shoes are versatile. They can do it all. Big squats and deadlifts? No problemo.
Lets check out the outsole aka the sole. See that versatile lug pattern? Its made for traction indoors or outdoors.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star High Tops
You cant go wrong with Chuck Taylors for everyday errands or hard-core weightlifting sessions. Chuck Taylors have been around for a long time and have sold millions of pairs of shoes, so its safe to say Converse is out there making good shoes.
Although most people wear them for street style, Chuck Taylor high-tops actually encompass everything a good lifting shoe should have. The wide toe box gives your feet room to splay and stabilize, and the extra ankle support takes some pressure off of the joint. The flat, minimally cushioned sole and rubber outsole create a balanced environment for your feet, and you can lace them up as tight or as loose as you like.
Chuck Taylor All-Stars do have some downfalls, though: Theyre heavy compared to other weightlifting shoes, and they might feel cumbersome for activities other than straight lifting sets. So if youre moving from exercise to exercise quickly , these probably arent the right pick for you.
All-Stars are a unisex style, but they come in both mens and womens sizes.

Nobull Trainer Performance Perks
Im going to be straight up with you, these shoes are not the best Ive ever used when it comes to stability, although, theyre by far one of the most comfortable models. That being said, I loved these shoes for more casual workouts where I either am 1) not working incredibly heavy or 2) focusing heavily on accessories with a fast-paced rest:work tempo. Additionally, these shoes have earned my number one roster pick for favorite commute shoes due to their comfort.

These are a great option if you want sneakers to resemble your fave slippers.

Nobull Trainer Vs Nike Metcon 6 And 7 Sizing
For those interested in sizing for the Nike Metcon 7, NOBULL Trainer, and Nike Metcon 6, you should be safe going true-to-size in all of the models. Their lengths all fit true, but there is a slight difference in their overall width.
- Nike Metcon 6: Go True to Size. True length, slightly more narrow mid-foot, and lower boot construction.
- NOBULL Trainer: Go True to Size. True length and slightly wider construction throughout.
- Nike Metcon 7: Go True to Size. True length, narrow mid-foot, and low boot construction.

Nobull Trainer Performance Drawbacks
In respects to drawbacks of the NOBULL Trainer, I had two main issues. First, the shoes length runs a little small for my liking. Personally, I like a little toe wiggle room at the top to avoid toe jamming, but these shoes were a little tight. These shoes are made to be unisex, so keep that in mind when considering going true-to-size, or a half size up. Second, these shoes were a tad roomy in the mid-foot, but not to a terrible degree. I prefer a tighter shoe, so it took a little adjusting to, but it didnt hinder performance, per se.
So What Are They Good For
They are made strictly for cross training.
Cross training is a mixture of different workouts to increase overall performance.
These include weight training, cardio, jumping, sliding, grinding, rope climbs. Anything that a WOD requires.
This is due to the 4mm heel-to-toe drop and the flat and wide outsole.
The flat oustole keeps the shoe glued to the floor so you dont roll an ankle or break something while training.

Nobull Trainers Vs Nobull High
Of all the shoes NOBULL offers, two of their most popular models include the original NOBULL Trainer and the NOBULL High-Top Trainer. Despite having pretty much the same construction in regard to materials used in each shoe, they both perform slightly due to the higher boot in the high-top model.
Below are three major differences that Ive noticed between the NOBULL Trainer and the NOBULL High-Top Trainer.

Nobull Has Taken Training Shoes To The Streets And Trails In Ever
NoBull has embraced the training category, allowing the footwear brand growing success.
NoBull
Training starts in the gym, but as the Nobull progression of footwear shows, it extends beyond CrossFit into running, cycling and, now, trail running. The footwear brand birthed in CrossFit has embraced the entirety of athletic training and the 5-year-old Boston brand has seen growth because of it.
For us, says Marcus Wilson, Nobull co-founder, it has been about expanding our definition of training. In all these sports, there are athletes who work hard and dont believe in excuses.
Wilson and co-founder Michael Schaeffer, both Reebok veterans, launched Nobull in 2015 with a focus on the pairs passion: CrossFit. The functional fitness space became a sweet spot for Nobull, with the footwears military-grade upper offering durability across multiple training activities. But CrossFit athletes dont spend all their training time on just one activity. They like to run, cycle and more, leading to the expansion of the brands footwear and apparel outside the gym.
The latest addition to the NoBull lineup is the Matryx Trail Runner.

Wearing Nobull Trainer Shoes For Cardio
Nope. Nope no nada. Heed our advice and just skip the NOBULL Trainers for your daily walk or if you feel inspired to go for a run. As much as our product testers love the NOBULL shoes for training and lifting weights, no one on our team likes these for pounding the pavement.
Theres no arch support, the forefoot isnt flexible enough to roll with a running stride, and the low heel tab might cause blisters with repetitive foot strikes. You can get away with wearing NOBULLs during a WOD that has short bursts of running, such as 200-meter repeats, but even then, you might find them uncomfortable.
NOBULL does make running shoes if youre interested in wearing NOBULL shoes for cardio sessions.
