Sandals Montego Bay Jamaica: Scuba Diving
Certified divers are allowed to do 2 free boat dives per day. The dive boat usually went out for 2 morning dives and 1 afternoon dive. A typical day would be 9, 11 and 2 – or something very close to that.
One thing to keep in mind though is that even if you are a certified diver, you need to do a shallow dive with the resort first before you can do one of the deeper dives. This appears to be a hard and fast rule with no exceptions. It doesn’t matter if you have 500 dives under your belt, you are going to do a shallow dive with them first. So don’t wait until the last day to dive if you want to do a deeper dive.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to go diving but my husband did. He did a site called The Caverns.
After you have gone through signing up, you are split into small groups. While he was diving, there were no more than 6 people per divemaster. Prior to the dive, the divemaster gave a very thorough predive briefing. All the groups go in together and everyone waited on the surface on a drag line until all the divers were in the water. Each dive group then descends together.

Sandals Montego Bay Jamaica: Pools
Unlike some other resorts in the Caribbean, this resort is about the beach and not the pools. They do have 4 pools including one main one near the beach.
This is in contrast to Sandals Grande Riviera, which was all about the pools – including 3 huge ones with swim-up bars.

Since I am all about the beach, I was fine with the pool offerings. The biggest pool is just off the beach and also has a hot tub near it. It is a medium sized pool, not one of those huge ones you may find at other resorts, Sandals included.
There is a swim-up pool bar located down the beach and next to the piano bar. Unfortunately, it was out of commission while we were there. I think it would have been fun to go out at night, hop in the pool and sing along at the piano bar. Maybe next time. This pool also has a hot tub next to it overlooking the ocean.
A good place for a private hot tub is in front of the Almond Block. Walk along in front of that block, along the water, and at the end is a hot tub overlooking the ocean. We never saw anyone in it while we were there, except for us, of course. We took advantage of that and enjoyed a glass of wine there to wind down from the afternoon . Of course, there are rooms behind you so privacy only goes so far.

Frontier Is Adding More Nonstop Flights To Montego Bay Jamaica

Since the onset of the pandemic, no carrier has added more new flights to the Caribbean than low-cost airline Frontier.
And now its adding even more.
The airline has announced plans to add another three weekly flights to Jamaicas tourism hub of Montego Bay, in another positive step for Jamaicas push to grow its airlift.
Beginning May 22, 2023, Frontier will be adding thrice-weekly service between Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Montego Bays Sangster International Airport.
Frontier is now the third-largest carrier at Dallas-Fort Worth, the company said.
Frontiers consistent growth at DFW is a tremendous success story, said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial at Frontier Airlines. Its clear DFW will serve a central role in the expansion of our network for years to come. Were proud of a partnership that promises to foster a positive economic impact for the entire Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Frontier has already launched reservations on the new route, with an introductory fare as low as $99.
Jamaica has been in the midst of a dramatic tourism rebound.
Earlier this month, Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett announced that the island had already reported more than 2 million stayover visitors in 2022, with the hope of topping 3 million visitors by the end of the year.

Due to the laws in the countries in which they operate, the company had a policy dating from 1981 that could not allow same-sex couples from their couples-only resorts. The policy was variously stated by characterizing the accommodations as resort for couples only. In various Caribbean islands, a couple is defined as one female adult and one male adult, policies require male/female couples only, or couples of the same gender are not accepted. This policy received a great deal of publicity when stays at their resorts were offered as prizes in various promotions by companies such as Microsoft, Yahoo!, and US Airways in 1999. Later reports indicated that some resorts also made no accommodations for people with disabilities, prompting the ACLU to opine that companies offering Sandals stays as prizes, or otherwise doing business with Sandals resorts, might be the targets of lawsuits. The companies involved promptly severed their relationships with Sandals, stating they were unaware of its discriminatory practices. Adverts for the company were banned from the London Underground in 2003 after public objections were raised.
