Sandals Royal Caribbean Overwater Villas
This room category is definitely my favorite of all the rooms Sandals Resorts offer. The overwater villa is essentially divided into three spaces with doors. When you first walk in, you have a pantry with a fully stocked bar, coffee machine, fridge, and a table for dining indoors. Your Butler will stock your bar and fridge at your request.
In the second room, you have a massive area with a king sized bed, two comfy chairs, a work station, big TV, and a large see through area of the floor to see the marine life.
In the third room, a tranquility soaking tub, shower, separate toilet, and walk-in closet.
Each of these three spaces can be closed off to the other rooms and all have access to the deck, which is the entire length of the villa.

The most extravagant of the three St Lucia Sandals resorts is also home to the best beach of any St. Lucia Resort. The imposing pool sits on the beach overlooking glittering Rodney Bay the resort lies on a peninsula between the bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Picture-perfect views surround you no matter where you are at the resort. The sunsets are spectacular.
Coco Plum Island Resort Overwater Villa
The luxurious Belize Overwater Villa Coco Plum Island is a 3-bedroom 3-bath all-inclusive bungalow that can accommodate from four to six persons, perfect for a small family or group of friends. The villa features exotic furnishings, top of the line amenities, along with a full kitchen, dining, and living room area. Butlers And The Best Amenities
The butler service at Sandals is a team effort, and it’s a much-appreciated adjunct to an overwater villa stay. Given the relative isolation of the villas from the rest of the resort, guests will find themselves being highly reliant on their butlers for everything from coffee in the morning to afternoon cocktails, to room service and dining reservations, to arranging for activities both on and off the resort.
The staff is friendly, professional, and eager to please, and by the end of your visit you’ll be happy to learn that your butlers may accept gratuities — an exception to Sandals’ general “no tipping” policy.

Located a mere 5 minutes away from Sandals Montego Bay, Royal Caribbean offers a more elegant atmosphere. It has a private offshore island featuring a Thai restaurant, another pool, and the resort’s best beach. The location, price point, variety of activities ensure that Royal Caribbean is an excellent choice for large groups. Everyone will find some to love at this resort.
Booking A Overwater Bungalow In Jamaica
The overwater bungalows in Jamaica get booked far in advance. On Sandals website you can check availability to find times that are open throughout the year. In the case that they are only available for a couple of nights and you would like to stay longer, consider starting your vacation out in a more affordable suite, and moving to the bungalow after a few nights.

Jamaica has long been popular as a luxury honeymoon destination, its resorts can be world class, in particular those of the Sandals company which first began its brand of all inclusive opulence right there.
Overwater bungalows are a new addition to the luxury resort sector in Jamaica and it is Sandals again which we can thank for that.
There are two resorts with overwater bungalows in Jamaica – Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast. Both of these are terrific 5 Star, all inclusive resorts, some of the very best in the Caribbean.
Sandals Royal Caribbean is just five miles from the airport on its own private island, which means you can be diving into the sea from your overwater bungalow within almost minutes of your arrival in Jamaica.
It may be tempting therefore to nip in an out but be aware though that there can be a premium to be paid in high season for stays of less than 3 days.
The latter, Sandals South Coast, is about an hour and a half away from the airport and is more secluded and quieter.
Both Sandals overwater bungalow resorts in Jamaica are all inclusive and adults only.
Their overwater bungalows are broadly similar, and similarly impressive, with large outside decks, splash pools and stylish, top of the range, furniture & fittings including the classic glass floor panels.

What Is Included When Staying At An Overwater Bungalow
Sandals resorts are truly all-inclusive. Each Sandals resort has multiple restaurants available with multiple types of cuisine. All breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, and drinks are all included in your stay.
For drinks, Sandals only serves premium brand liquors that are always included and unlimited. Sandals resorts only serve premium brand liquors that are always included and unlimited. In all rooms, there is a mini-fridge stocked with water, juice, soda, Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks Wine, and local beer. Additionally, every room includes a coffee maker with Jamaican Blue Mountain Blend coffee.
So How Close Is It Really
Looking at my own travel, door to door from Washington, D.C. to Montego Bay, Jamaica was 6 hours, including a layover and plane change.
When I went to Bora Bora, total travel time was about 22 hours with three layovers and three plane changes. In addition, I had to take a 25 minute boat ride to the resort.
Going to Maldives can sometimes take more than a day. There are no direct flights from DC and most flights change over in Qatar, then go onto Maldives. From there, you take a boat or plane to your resort. Timings vary.

Sandals Overwater Bungalows In Jamaica Are Closer Than You Think
Have you ever wanted to stay in an overwater bungalow, but felt like Bora Bora and Maldives were just a tad too far to fly? Recently I had the opportunity to stay at both Sandals Royal Caribbean in their overwater villa and at Sandals South Coast in their overwater bungalow.
After having been to Bora Bora and staying in various bungalows around the world, I have to admit, it is comparable. And best of all, much closer from where I live.
Both Sandals properties I stayed at offer the overwater bungalows and they are designed by the same architect and in the shape of a heart. The overwater villas are only at Sandals Royal Caribbean and they are significantly bigger and come with a private plunge pool on the deck.
If I had to pick a favorite, it would definitely be the overwater villa. I actually thought I was in Bora Bora when I stayed here. The water was crystal clear blues and I felt like I had been transported back.

Sandals Grande St Lucian Resort Saint Lucia
While the other two resorts have lovely locations, the Sandals in St. Lucia is on one of the most beautiful coves in the Caribbean and I dont believe Ive ever seen a better beach-resort location. The island of St. Lucia is arguably the most scenic of all of the Caribbean islands, although the famous twin peaks of the Pitons are a long way from the resort.
Generally speaking, St. Lucia is a more pleasant island than Jamaica, and it has that faraway vacation feel that is more dramatic than even at Sandals South Coast. If I had plenty of time to get here and at least 4 or 5 nights to stay, Id choose Sandals St. Lucian for my overwater bungalow holiday.
The disadvantages are the longer flight time , not to mention more expensive flights. On the other hand, St. Lucia is almost two hours closer to most European airports, so this place is a good alternative to the Maldives and MUCH closer than Bora Bora.
Overwater bungalows location
The overwater bungalows are along the southern edge of the St. Lucian resort. Unlike the other two resorts where the overwater bungalows are out over a lagoon, the 9 water villas are simply out off of a peninsula at this resort. You arent properly out over the water until you are inside the bungalow itself.

El Dorado Palafitos Maroma Beach Mexico
The travel world turned upside down when El Dorado Maroma by Karisma debuted their stilted Palafitos in 2016the first overwater bungalows to hit Mexico. As an adults-only all-inclusive resort, you can expect all the romantic perks: outdoor showers, 24-hour butlers, private infinity plunge pools, glass floor panels where you can watch schools of fish swirl below. Unlike their South Pacific counterparts, these bungalows took design cues from their home countrys Aztec roots: look out for furniture made from local Zapote wood and white granite and authentic prints and fabrics.

One of the best things about the overwater bungalows in Jamaica is probably the premier butler service. Your personal butler is available via a smartphone you get at check-in 24/7.
Upon your arrival to Sandals, your personal butler will greet you with lemongrass scented towels, a fresh drink, and show you to your suite and make sure your luggage gets delivered.
Your butler can even unpack your suitcase and fold your clothes if you so desire!
While you stay at the resort, you can ask your butler to help you with pretty much anything. You can coordinate restaurant reservations, make tour bookings, and schedule spa treatments for you.
If you are by the pool or at the beach and you get hungry or need a drink, your butler will happily bring you something.
