How To Keep White Sneakers White
1. Before wearing your new shoes, pre-treat with a waterproofer or stain repellent, such as a Scotchguard, for canvas or something similar for leather. Reapply every few weeks. Remember to use the correct product on the right material because the wrong product can damage the shoe instead of protecting it. Generally speaking, creams, oils, beeswax such as Kiwi Zanolin are great for conditioning and waterproofing soft leather. Or a spray waterproofer works well on fabric and canvas shoes.
2. NEVER EVER wash your canvas sneakers in the washing machine. Some brands suggest you can, but just DONT.
3. However, if you get some unsightly marks and scuffs on your white shoes, use a clean cloth dipped in white vinegar to spot clean some stains.
4. For more stubborn stains, such as oil or grease, spot clean stains with a clean damp cloth dipped in a solution of warm water and gentle baby shampoo.
5. You can use bleach diluted, of course . Rinse with warm water when youre done. Full strength bleach will actually leave a yellow mark where you sponged.
6. Use an old toothbrush dipped in your cleaning solution of choice warm water and shampoo or white vinegar to get to those hard-to-reach areas.
7. After cleaning, stuff shoes with paper towels or an old dry cloth to help absorb any excess moisture and speed up the drying process.
8. Leave to dry outdoors, but out of direct sunlight.

How We Picked And Tested
To find the finest white sneakers, I scoured forums, social feeds, blogs, customer reviews, sneaker podcasts, and best-seller listings. Limiting the pool to just low-tops, for consistencys sake, I found 79 pairs of shoes in mens, womens, and unisex sizes, in materials ranging from recycled plastic bottles to leather. I reviewed each pairs style, size ranges, retailer availability, third-party reviews, price, and color options other than white . Shoes that didnt measure up to those criteria were cut, leaving us some 22 pairs, which we categorized as fabric, all-leather, and leather-like shoes.
For the initial round of testing, I ordered the shoes in my regular size and followed manufacturer sizing instructions, as needed. I wore each pair of shoes for a few hours and noted the overall quality, fit, and comfort. I dismissed shoes that had a combination of sloppy stitching, cracked leather, poor fit, or were uncomfortable to wear. That left us with eight pairs of shoes for panel testing: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star , Rothy’s The Lace Up, and Superga 2750 Cotu Classic White fabric shoes, and Adidas Stan Smith Shoes, Greats The Royale, Italic Cadence Leather Sneakers, Nike Air Force 1 Low, and Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 all-leather sneakers.

Make A Diy Shoe Cleaning Solution With Vinegar And Water
If you dont want to shell out for shoe-cleaning products, Toronto shoe store Getoutsides special request manager Giselle Ferguson recommends scrubbing dirt off with a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar. According to shoe collector ââAJ Silberman-Moffit, who owns over 50 pairs of sneakers, canvas is a great option if you want a pair that’ll stay white for a long time. OxiClean can help revive the white color while a magic eraser can also work to spot-clean the tops when necessary.
Leather and vegan leather are equally easy to clean and maintain. “I prefer wearing leather or vegan leather sneakers,” adds Silberman-Moffit. “These materials wipe clean with either a damp paper towel or a traditional cotton towel. I have also used baby wipes and similar wipes to easily clean dirt and debris. I purchased leather cleaner and moisturizer, and I use these on my sneakers regularly to keep them in great shape.”

Sneakers with arch support are the most comfortable, especially when traveling. “Many of the sneakers in my collection are from Adidas,” says Silberman-Moffitt. “The arch support in these is stable enough to make wearing them comfortable to walk in all day. At the same time, they have a classic look that never goes out of style.”

“For females, plain white sneakers can be dressed up with nice slacks or a summer dress or dressed down with shorts or capris,” says Silberman-Moffitt. “For men, a classic white sneaker free from patterns or accent colors is equally versatile and can make packing just one pair of shoes for an entire trip much more manageable.”
